Richie and the board appreciation
I feel like we as a fanbase overlook how remarkable of a job nigel, kent, richie and justin have done for this club. 7 years ago we were staring at a potential relegation to the national league south. we nearly went bust. If it wasn't for nigel and kent we wouldnt exist anymore, and by extension we wouldnt have won the national league and the league 2 title. Richie took us from a relegation scrap in league 2 after about 2 wins in 20 games under jackett, to league 2 winners and 2 years of playoff pushes in league 1 (if u count last year). If we didnt go bust, none of us would have the great memories we have had in the past few years. Might sound like an exaggeration but our league 2 title win for me is one of the best moments of my life, maybe im not speaking for most people here but we could appreciate the board a bit more. Sure we dont spend a lot of money and criticise them where its fair but they have worked miracles here, im talking to all the richie out guys back in october and november

The Fall and Rise of Leyton Orient is a good read, explaining just how bad it was and how we got to where we are now

Re: Richie and the board appreciation
They've been amazing for sure - I doubt there's anyone on here who would deny that.
They will always be legends for rescuing the club, and the history books will reflect that, and rightly so.
People will comment about current issues. Players, tactics, ticketing, the way we count attendances, whether Cleo is Theo's wife or not - it doesn't take away from the amazing job they've done or reflect any lack of appreciation.
We're at an interesting time club-wise though I think. The money circulating at the top of L1 is more than ever before and possibly outside our comfort zone. Our success this season is largely off the back of loan players. How do we push on? Where does this club see itself in the future?
Dunno. But I have faith in the current board to find a way.

None of it would have been possible without Martin LingDelightInE10 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 7:15 am I feel like we as a fanbase overlook how remarkable of a job nigel, kent, richie and justin have done for this club. 7 years ago we were staring at a potential relegation to the national league south. we nearly went bust. I love the feeling at this time of year. Supporting Orient for over 50 years, apart from the odd occasion, follows a very similar pattern. No hopers in the early months of the season, a mid season pick up and dreams of better days to come, then the end of season slump.
Sometimes the script follows a different path, here's hoping.

Re: Richie and the board appreciation
Did anyone actually call for Wellens to be sacked earlier this season? There was some (justified) grumbling about poor performances and what at the time seemed like poor signings. I don’t remember this phantom “Richie out” campaign which seems to have been invented exclusively as part of that word salad.
Also, didn’t this alias recently claim to only have started following Orient during the Jackett era? Why are they lecturing us about stuff that happened before they even apparently supported the club?
Bizarre.

Re: Richie and the board appreciation
It’s been a ride eh?
During the early years it was obviously about stability and getting us back into the league by any means but I quite enjoy that you can see there seems to be an actual plan and way of working/philosophy starting to build that’s could feasibly see us go to the next level as a club. There’s still room and time needed to nail that down but I strongly believe we have the best manager at this level, which is key to all of that.
The only time they generally get it wrong is on the commercial side imo. Some very odd decisions and money grabs don’t align what they say they want the club to be. I get it. Money is king in football but there’s a balance.

No one is saying there were chants at games or people with placards but there was absolutely heat on Richie from sections of the fanbase. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:33 am Did anyone actually call for Wellens to be sacked earlier this season? My 12 year old grandson has been there to see the O's celebrate winning two trophies. He is a big O's fan and follows our results closely even though his first team is Spurs.
