I remember in the 1980s when British hostage Terry Waite was featured in the nightly news on at least a weekly basis while he was being held hostage by Lebanon's Islamic Jihad Organisation (had to Google the name of that terrorist militia and it appears they were a precursor to Hezbollah). Yet here we are, nearly 40 years later and the name Emily Damiri only became known to many of us just 24 hours ago during her release. How times change...

I'd also wonder why there has been so little made of the many Palestinians held without trial in Israeli jails. They are also victims of oppression and terrorism I'd contend.

It's good to see hostages, from both sides, being released. It's just a shame that Netanyahu and chums felt it necessary to first murder tens of thousands of civilians before they were compelled to agree to a ceasefire. I suppose there's not much left of Gaza for them to destroy.
Funny Malvolio responds to George but can't respond to an honest question from you.
An Israeli held for a year & bombed continously by her own side must have been pretty traumatic.

At least Waites 4 years in captivity his own side didn't try to kill him by bombing the crap out of where he was held.

Let me be clearer for you boni0, the point I am trying to make is to highlight the media coverage of British hostages throughout the ages. Possibly something you have not considered?

Absolutely. We all know why the BBC like to stick British on this. A transparent ploy for us to hate Palestinians even more.

I’ve not considered it because it’s of little consequence compared to the wholesale slaughter of innocents being committed by Israel. Do you still support Israeli atrocities in Gaza?

I note that the "ceasefire" agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on as the Genocidal Israel state launch a military offensive in the illegally occupied West Bank.

That's just a slight of hand to enable the Genocide to be expanded to fresh Palestinian lands.

Israel shot and killed an 8-months-pregnant woman today in the Nour Shams refugee camp in the West Bank. Israeli soldiers stopped any medical assistance from reaching them, so both she and the baby inside her died.

Class. Not a war crime though. Neither is the Israeli action in Palestine an act of Genocide. Just ask an Israeli

In what World would that not be condemned by every civilised Country, every person with any humanity in them?

This is the kind of atrocity historically associated with the likes of the Nazis in WW2. Israel descends to new depths of depravity encouraged by the unconditional support of Trump. Oh well, if Trump & co make a massive profit on the Real Estate then it’s all been worth it.

Released Israeli hostage Eli Sharabi - looking gaunt and fragile - was forced by his terrorist Hamas captors to read a statement prior to his handover in which he said he was "overjoyed at being reunited with his wife and daughters and family".

His wife and two teenage daughters (aged 13 and 16) were murdered by Palestinians on October 7th 2023.

And your point is? Nobody’s denying the barbarity of the attack on 7th October. However, as I’m sure you’re aware, that’s no excuse for the continuing barbarity of the Israeli state and the destruction of Gaza.

If you, still, really believe that the slaughter of innocent people in Gaza by Israel is justified then I have nothing else to say to you. You are totally lacking in any feelings of humanity which I guess you’d need to support Israel.

Who murdered this man's family? Are we certain it wasn't the IDF operating under the Hannibal Directive?

Sharabi was at his home in Be’eri kibbutz with his British-born wife and their two teenage daughters when Hamas militants entered it on 7 October 2023. The armed men shot their dog before locking Lianne, Sharabi’s wife, and their two daughters in their safe room and setting it on fire.

Well done for clearing that up. Perhaps you can now work your way through the thousands of Israeli atrocities. Just for balance of course.
