We shouldn’t break the bank for any player. Every one is replaceable. Every few years we lose a players who’s “irreplaceable” and then we replace them.
But the idea is to build a team capable of challenging for promotion . We must do everything possible to keep our best players .
There’s doing everything possible and breaking the bank. Galbraith would be a huge loss but the fanbase would forget about him within 6 months if he went.

What about if they don't want to stay but prefer to go to a team with better prospects and higher in the leagues ?

We couldn't replace Smyth, Vigouroux or Mizouni, but here we are, basically in the same place as this time last year (maybe actually a little better off). At least one of Agyei and Galbraith will be off by the end of the season, its reflects well on the club and manager that we can be trusted to develop players, which in turn makes us more attractive to prospective signings. We are who we are, we will get blown out of the water by clubs with bigger budgets.

We have always been blown out of the water by clubs with bigger budgets . The only time that wasn't the case was under the previous regime but unfortunately there was no brains behind it.

Sometimes there is a surprise departure. Wouldn't bet against one considering budget constraints

It’s equally as amusing that suddenly Donley is seen as a nailed on first teamer because he has had a couple of half decent games (4 months into a loan period).

Perkins is the one who has actually shown some sort of improvement since his naff start. I’d keep him for the rest of the season because we ain’t going to find anyone better for free (which is the budget we’ll be working with)

Signing Keeley on a permanent will be the extent of the noteworthy transfer activity in Jan.
I am amused that you can’t see the quality that Donley gives us. It was never going to be instant. It’s his first experience of senior football. Someone suggested we should bring a number 10 in to give him some competition. Who were they thinking of . We won’t get anyone better.

He’s got to be really good for the second half of the season to make up for the first (but yes, signs are finally looking good).

I don't want to be right but Agyei and Kelman won't go through the season without picking up injuries or needing resting 🤔 i feel a decent forward is a must to cover any mishaps 👍

If put in the position of only being able to keep one of Galbraith and Agyei I'd pick the latter. We could muddle through with a different RB / CAM but we have no-one in the squad like Agyei who can occupy multiple defenders.

The dentist and the West Ham fan will probably be giving us enough to keep the show on the road for another few months.

I didn’t say he had no quality. I said that the complete overreaction to a bloke who was supposed to be the second coming of Harry Kane having a couple of decent games after half a season of “meh” is very amusing.

Just wondering what Perkins preferred position is?

He seems to be left footed, playing on the right wing.

Personally I think there might be some talent there but he’s not a right winger.

Chances are the fee for Dan would be lower as Ethan has the further year option so I’d think it more likely Dan goes in January.

Anyone I know who has seen him play from other clubs has commented on him so the scouts will have been out in force and the vultures circling.

As others have said elsewhere, Ruel is on silly money for a bang average squad players. Dan would command a much higher salary at a L1 leading light and I expect his agent to be hawking him around aggressively to achieve that.

Unless he has real love for the club and / or working with RW then I’d expect him gone.

Hoping to be proven very wrong.

Agree with what you say but Dan has been at bigger clubs and things have not worked out. He’s playing regularly and looks to be happy. It shouldn’t be discounted.

Agyei's next contract is probably his last shot at getting a big pay bump. Turns 28 in the summer and hasn't had the career the talent he's shown here would suggest he should have. Wouldn't blame the guy for taking a sideways move to someone like Rovers if they offered a lot more than we can.

Why is everyone obsessed with getting a fee?

Dan and Ethan were both signed out of contract on frees, were they not?

Recall that Nigel has said players will be sold to lower the losses and get used to it happening so just a matter of time really.

That's fair enough but we won't be achieving much on the pitch anytime soon with that policy .

The club simply cannot allow any of our best players to leave in Jan.
Dan Agyei or Ethan Galbraith cannot be allowed to leave in Jan, if the club has any ambitions, our best players, have to be retained and offered improved deals.

As for loans,
Currie
Personally, it would be a disaster if Currie went back to Oxford in Jan, Currie makes such a diff to our team when he plays, he gives balance, defensively he is solid, but where he improves the team, is he gives us an attacking threat.
We MUST keep him for rest of the season!!!
Keeley
I don’t really have to put a case forward for Josh Keeley, just simply to say, we need he for rest of season, and if possible, sign on permanent deal.
Donley
I hope we can keep for real of season, as we are now seeing the best of Donley.
Perkins
He’s still very raw, but good option from bench, but not a starter.
Kelman
I think we all know we will sign him on a permanent deal in A few days, wouldn’t be surprised if the deal is already done.
I like Kelman & believe he will be a good signing, but Dan Agyei should be our No.9, with Kelman as a replacement.
Hemings
Bye bye 👋

Scenario where we sell expiring good players for peanuts and replace with gash loans like Nouble is 100% on the cards next month

If that happens , With Wycombe, Huddersfield and Birmingham our last three league games lets hope we’re not in a relegation battle by then.
