He's covering tomorrows and Saturdays game before leaving.

Strange timing. Does not seem to be a sacking, as such. Fed up with the supporters seems to be the closest I can work out to be the reason. Well, the was the most popular idea on the relevant BBC comments section.

Re: Manager Merry Go Round
Very strange. They've had a weird old season, terrible start - and, depleted side or not, they looked absolutely woeful against us in the Milk Cup - but their loss on Saturday was their first in 10, although they're now claiming the recruitment process was already underway before the announcement? Odd all round.

The Championship is where Lampard has been the most successful taking Derby to the play-offs a few years ago.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 11:46 amReplace Robbins with Lampard, hmmm, the type of thing only owners would do, will be surprised if many fans would do similar!Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 2:06 pmBe good to play them again next year if we stay up.

Very odd. I'd always been under the impression Harris was a legend at Millwall, but perhaps they're getting on his back.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 2:23 pm Strange timing. They're deluded if so - Millwall for me is Not a big club- holding their own in the Championship is success..they're one of the smaller clubs in that league really if they don't think it themselves.

A couple departing for pastures new today
1. Gary O’Neil dismissed by Wolves . Sad but totally predictable
2. Des Buckingham given the chop at Oxford United. Wouldn’t necessarily have seen that one coming tbh.

O'Neil was I think inevitable, but got to feel sorry for Buckingham, feels like a victim of his own success, he got them up and they are punching above their weight.redintheface wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 4:03 pm A couple departing for pastures new today

Re: Manager Merry Go Round
I remember Oxford fans on the socials were absolutely scathing about Buckingham when we turned them over - pretty convincingly - last season, then all went a bit quiet when he ended up actually getting them promoted. Perhaps he - or his style of football - wasn't always that popular, despite ultimately doing really well. Success doesn't buy you any kind of loyalty any more, a couple of months, tops.

Re: Manager Merry Go Round
Genuinely thought their manager was the ex Portsmouth, scorer of wonder goals, gifted left footer Matt Taylor. I had always struggled to link his style of playing to their thuggery.
Just googled and, as I should have guessed, it was a different person. I don't remember this Matt Taylor playing but that's hell of a story - was a goalkeeper up until the age of 23, played for Everton youth and then a very respectable non-league standard, before converting to a centre half and becoming a football league player.
