In all likelihood he represented himself before the Law Lords and bamboozled them with a dazzling display of legal argumentation. His scintillating display would have hinged on the complex issues of Human Rights and Freedom of Speech, no doubt.
One can imagine that his admission to the use of multiple aliases was shown to have been obtained under duress – and was, therefore inadmissible - after the mods had threatened to expose him if he didn’t ‘fess-up’.

All-in-all, it was probably one of the most electrifying days that London, WC2 had ever seen.
