At least Dennis has added a bit of pace up front and with him and Brophy we now have two players who are fast and can go past players, final balls for both of the just need improvement, but after all, that is why they are playing in Division 2 and not the Premier League !!

Decent point and looks like we got very lucky.
Their goal, whilst a decent finish, is worse than schoolboy defending. No organisation. How can they be allowed to throw the ball on, one touch and a goal?

Re: YouTube Salford City v Leyton Orient highlights
Funny how the totally anonymous Right Back shows up twice with 2 good balls in just a 2 minute clip.
Some boarders have such a downer on certain players they're completely blinkered when they perform well.
Just makes you look a fool in the end

Re: YouTube Salford City v Leyton Orient highlights
Some of the highlights.
0.14 throw in for Salford, sloppy marking by the Os defence, end result, Salford score.
0.30 Fantastic reaction save from close range by Brill.
1.15 good build up by the Os with Dennis involved, Os player takes a shot and a good save by Salford Keeper.
1.30 Good cross by Ling into the area creates a goal scoring chance.
1.45 Good cross field ball out of defence by Ling to Brophy who from just inside his own half runs and takes on the Salford defence, gets into the Salford penalty area and hits the ball into the six yard box and the Salford keeper, under pressure from Matt Harrold, somehow manages to put the ball into his own net ! Really good away point for the Os !

Yes I also made that same observation about the Ling passes in my ''highlights'' comment that I put above. I was checking the video and noting the times and by the time I posted it, you also made the same point about Ling, yes he did well with those two passes !!

Listening to Dave Victor yesterday, I thought Sam had changed his name by deed pole to Lingdoeswell. Every simple touch of the ball was greeted with that phrase, it was embarrassing.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:58 amYes I also made that same observation about the Ling passes in my ''highlights'' comment that I put above. I assume you are referring to the lob to the back post from the corner and then the pass to Brophy for the goal? Do you honestly think they are anything other than routine passes for a professional footballer?
The lob is over hit as it goes. There’s no way anyone is scoring from beyond the back post.

Re: YouTube Salford City v Leyton Orient highlights
I can only go by what was shown on that video and the fact of the matter is that Ling looked up, saw Brophy in space and passed the ball out of defence to him and helped towards creating the goal we scored. The lob went into the back of the six yard box where looks like Angol got his head onto it and nodded it back in. I have seen plenty of goals over the years from balls put into those type of areas. Give credit where credit is due.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:17 amListening to Dave Victor yesterday, I thought Sam had changed his name by deed pole to Lingdoeswell. Re: YouTube Salford City v Leyton Orient highlights
Got very lucky for their goal, was not a good cross by Brophy, although I think it got deflected. Still, somehow the keeper spills it.
Gotta be concerned with the defending, the goal was just not good, but just as bad was the header that Brill saved. That is a worry for me over the first games. We've looked comfortable when the opposition cannot/aren't bothered about attacking, once they apply pressure there are lapses in concentration.
Kinda agree on Lingy, the lob back into the area was hopeful rather than a skilful pickout, but he does well enough to be up there and stand it in. Admittedly it is rather difficult to score directly from that type of ball unless a defender does not pick up their forward. Compare that to perhaps an attacking right-back mentality, which would be to bring it down, beat the first man and then hit the ball in hard and low, potential for penalty, own goal, or striker goal.
The outside of the foot was nice to watch and nicely weighted, but these are pro footballers we are talking about. Had it been on the left foot it would not be worthy of much comment, such cross field balls happen most games.
Sadly with all the furore from the past week it would seem a bit too obvious if the club made a little gif of the pass and called it 'filthy', just like they did when he did it against a Norwich kid. Seems to me he was more worthy of a bit of praise than either against Mansfield/Crawley.
I feel for Sam, there is pressure on him because of this and I feel he is dealing with it quite well this season. Going forward I still feel it is better for all parties that he plays elsewhere. Plainly we could improve on both him and Judd by buying an experienced League 2 right-back.

Yes defending was sloppy at times especially for the goal and also the goal bound header which brought out a great reflex save from Brill.

The lob was pretty routine. The cross field pass to Brophy was excellent. Credit where due.

The cross found an orient player, and the cross-field ball was decent, if not spectacular.
Let’s move on and not make every thread about bigging up, or knocking down Sam Ling. Sounds like he had an ok game.

Re: YouTube Salford City v Leyton Orient highlights

The first is a speculative lob that any five year old does every time they punt in a park and the second a routine clearance to the left.
I know who the fool is fella - which cousin are you again?

Completely correct. Lastly, so what hat are you wearing today ?
Your normal one of ''Captain Sensible'' or the ''realms of fantasy'' one of Corporal Jones, the one you wore for a few days after the away win at Mansfield !!

Then again, a lot better than the the often seen big hoof down the middle to the other end for the goalie to pick up and start off all over again !Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 10:53 am![]()

If you think that, there's no hope for a
Don't have to be related to anyone. I just like to support the club. He gets unfair stick. He's an OK young full back making his way in the game. Judd is exactly the same.
How can you call yourself a supporter when you are so vitriolic about the way it's run & the players.

Think you should give your ratings on the ratings thread totally based on this 2 minute clip.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:44 am Decent point and looks like we got very lucky.

This total over reaction only proves the point.
I made the exact same comment about Wright and Wilkinson, and not one word has been said about either of those...
