BBC were being warned seven years ago
This is following the classic BBC wrong un scandal arc perfectly. I’m sure this time lessons will be learnt though

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
Once again, it's the BBC News reporting on the BBC that I find most entertaining.

The allegations look mostly quite tame so far, unless I've missed some?

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
probably the worsttelling a junior female colleague he wasn't wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans.
One said his sexual jokes were "disgusting", adding that he would talk about how often he was having sex, and how he was a good lover.
After they complained, Wallace apologised and they were offered counselling.
Not exactly Saville is it?

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
I get the impression that he's one of those blokes for whom playing the numbers game has become habitual. Try and flirt with enough women, and he'll get one or two successes. But, as he gets older, his success percentage reduces, so he's increasing the initial tally to compensate.
As a bloke in his 20s it would have been one thing. But for a bloke of his age it's just desperate and creepy. And then you have to throw in the power dynamic, and the tendency of BBC senior managers to protect the "talent".
He's clearly incapable or unwilling to recognise how his behaviour will make most people feel, so should never be allowed to be put in that position.

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
A mate of mine will punch Wallace's lights out if he ever meets him. This after his wife had an 'encounter' with Wallace on a train.
Let's just say that I'm not surprised about any of this.
As for John Toad, I met him at an event once. I say met, but he spent the whole day avoiding talking to anyone there

He could go back to that and with all the free publicity, he's getting he could move into selling rude shaped veg.
You know the sort of stuff - willy shaped parsnips and carrots, arse shaped turnips, boob shaped melons etc.

I don’t blame him for not talking to anyone . As the great feminist Jim Davidson says , “ it’s best not to speak to women anymore “Real Al wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:01 pm A mate of mine will punch Wallace's lights out if he ever meets him. Very GB News/Trumpian to come out on the offensive and blame this all on middle class women when the volume of rumours out there are legion and probably not divided by class or age lines whatsoever.

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
I’ve always been ambivalent towards Wallace, caught bits of his programmes at times but never interested enough to watch cookery progs anyway.
A mate’s view is that Wallace said what many would maybe joke to their mates about down the pub, but totally inappropriate behaviour on the show – well yes indeed re the latter, shows a lack of judgement. If more went on than ‘banter’, then absolutely wrong, no excuses.
But I do find it strange that the likes of Kirsty Wark, a respected presenter, didn’t raise issues before within the BBC, for I would have expected her to for she would have surely judged it was wrong, nip it in the bud and maybe we don’t end up where we are now. So does feel there are questions to answer beyond just Wallace.

Blaming Kirstie Wark for all this for not whistle blowing earlier is certainly an interesting interpretation of events.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 3:41 pm I’ve always been ambivalent towards Wallace, caught bits of his programmes at times but never interested enough to watch cookery progs anyway.

Re: Gregg Wallace watch
Kirsteen was probably waiting until she retired before mentioning gregs mispeaks and didnt want to go upsetting her BBC bosses whilst an active employee there.
But then realised she missed being in the public eye and has found an unusual rouse to force her way back into the spotlight. 13 years is a long time to sit on a "sexualised joke".
