The never getting promoted line is interesting compared to Nigel's "exciting signings" talk in summer. Got another squad rebuild to come this summer too so it won't get any easier. He's having to play the game on Hard Mode difficulty thanks to the recruitment he's given.

I know some don't like him & want him gone, but I love that he is the Manager of Leyton Orient Football Club

I don't know what game he was watching. Perhaps it look different from the touchline, from where we sit in the back row of the Gallery, but we were poor today. However, finally Lady Luck shone on us. IMO it hasn't much this season.

I agree . Anyway personally all I want from this season to stay in League 1 and a good cup draw in the third round .gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 6:57 pm The never getting promoted line is interesting compared to Nigel's "exciting signings" talk in summer. Re: Richie Wellens interview post Oldham
Richie is far from the problem here, there’s only so much any manager can do given the limitations that we currently have with this squad. He’s been given some backing that we as a club can afford but we clearly need new blood in January and hopefully the prize money won today could help us.

I really think the players would run through brick walls for this man. He has his critics but I really admire his honesty and integrity.
His passion is going to be key in getting this squad up and running.

Re: Richie Wellens interview post Oldham
I think Ritchie is an honest guy, if he says the players are giving their all I believe him, after all he has called out players in his previous interviews when they have been underperforming. I don’t think the majority of people on here post so called ‘ negative’ comments it’s just reaction when you are upset at another defeat it’s a natural response the same people post positive comments when we are winning. However there are one or two who continually put the club down encouraging negativity for their own agenda, they know who they are so do a lot of the genuine supporters.
Up the O’s, hope we get a great draw in the 3rd round

Re: Richie Wellens interview post Oldham
Yes we were really lucky today.
Referee doesn't give as a penalty when Pratley hauled down.
Referee gives them a goal when its been thrown in.
Perfectly good goal disallowed for offside.
Its not luck if they sky the ball one yard out, its a bad miss by them.
We deserved to win, that said I don't dispute we were poor.

I think the players gave their all, and people should accept that some have more ability and talent than othersB.whitehouse+10more wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:46 am I think Ritchie is an honest guy, if he says the players are giving their all I believe him, after all he has called out players in his previous interviews when they have been underperforming. Most fans understand that we’re not watching Man City and L1 level players make mistakes but the minimum we can demand is 100% effort.
Let’s hope for a big draw tomorrow

You keep repeating this, but there's no evidence hes 'given' players. I don't think he'd stand for it. You just cant accept he fluffed it in the summergshaw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 6:57 pm The never getting promoted line is interesting compared to Nigel's "exciting signings" talk in summer. Re: Richie Wellens interview post Oldham
It's hard to imagine he didn't have a pretty big input into DJs signing, having worked with him before, and he's been one of our worst players. Likewise he obviously really wanted Kelman back, who's been middling. Supposedly was the one pushing for Warrington as well, who's been anonymous. The idea that scrapping the dof position and handing recruitment to Wellens will be a silver bullet for us doesn't stack up.

Refer to January transfer window, directly said we were too slow in signing the senior pro striker and with a few mins left was given the choice of the two loan kids or nothing.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 2:38 pmYou keep repeating this, but there's no evidence hes 'given' players. Hear what you say, and when El Miz landed, from memory it was RW who had previously refused other suggestions until he got his man, so that does imply it’s joined up, as it should be. I think it was telling Nigel’s comment at the Fans Forum a week or so back on recruitment being poor or whatever his words were, he won’t let it be, I expect something to change and hopefully for the better, fingers crossed.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 2:54 pm It's hard to imagine he didn't have a pretty big input into DJs signing, having worked with him before, and he's been one of our worst players. Problem is that our budget has been used up.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 3:33 pmHear what you say, and when El Miz landed, from memory it was RW who had previously refused other suggestions until he got his man, so that does imply it’s joined up, as it should be. Maybe Galbraith will be sold to raise money to fund a few signings

Sometimes he/they and we need to accept we didn't get the mix right in the summer. Add up the expectancy of having 2 good wingers back on the pitch by now - but having it dashed - adds up to a squad short of where it needs to be.
When we all go to bed this evening we need to pray for a money-spinning 3rd round tie. We are pretty well stretched financially with our squad budget so a good draw might release the purse strings a bit for the second half of the season.

Re: Richie Wellens interview post Oldham
Between the somewhat mixed messages it appeared there were two, one was missed out on because of the club being slow, the other near the end of the window being the selling club messing about as you mention.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:08 pm I remember being said that it fell through because of the selling club
