Archibald has suffered a setback to his left knee and has required further surgery.

Knee injuries are so hard to conquer, especially torn ACL injuries.

This is not good, I did my ACL in and have still not recovered after five years, I have to gingerly climb and descend the stairs in the West Stand gingerly to avoid doing further injury. Had two ops and whilst it is better the surgeon says it may never recover fully. I do all the physio but it is one of those awkward injuries.

I ruptured my ACL when I was playing football in around 1969, I was 21 at the time. In those times there was not that much in the way of operations for that injury. I had an operation in 1979 that helped a bit then another one in 1992 by the same surgeon who operated on Paul Gascoigne's ACL knee injury.
He did his best but it was 22 years too late and the damage to the joint had been done. In March this year I ended up having to have a full knee replacement. I hope your own knee injury improves as time goes on.

It was a very traumatic injury that changed my life. Of course being as you have read me mention it before, you can always just skip reading my comments. As to the farmers protests, well many non country people fail to understand the hard work, long hours and hard work for low rewards that farming involves,

An accident that happens in seconds and stops with you for life. Years ago it was a career ending injury, e,g finished off Brian Clough when he was only 27 years old when he tore the medial and cruciate ligaments in his knee, an injury which in that era usually ended a player's career. He returned two years later, but could manage only three games and then retired from playing at the age of 29. With present day surgery, if done quickly after the injury and depending what the internal knee injuries are, then some players can get to return to playing again although many are not as as good as they were pre injury

Thank you and I’ll bear what you said about leaving it too long. I am due to see my Doc again after Christmas.

With Theo’s enthusiasm and personality and background I think he would make a good coach for our youngsters.
Perhaps he could do that next season whilst still trying to recover from this terrible injury.
