Club to be banned from making noise?

No Rockin' All Over the World after midweek wins? Sounds like our income stream from stadium hire etc could be hit if LBWF decide we're a nuisance but some of the local NIMBY's requests seem ridiculous and should get short shrift.

"They said residents are being “kept awake” and “cannot enjoy peaceful evenings” due to the... cheering."
When did this happen?

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
'During the four months at the end of the season [January through April], the noise is so extreme it makes our homes almost unbearable to live in.'
One visit to a Tuesday night game will show they might have slightly overstated their case.

Absolute epidemic of people moving next to or near a venue that puts events on and then complaining about it.

I know we hire the pitch out but how many 'noisy' non-football events do we put on? Business Breakfasts? Weddings? All night raves?

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
It's killing late night venues in London and has gotten particularly bad post COVID where for a short while complete silence was the norm. Our licensing and planning systems are geared towards rewarding whingebags.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 7:32 am Absolute epidemic of people moving next to or near a venue that puts events on and then complaining about it.
These sorts of complaints are always full of pathetically hyperbolic language like 'explosions of noise' or 'destroying our quality of life' as well.

Not just London, happening everywhere. People complain about nightlife taking a hit while others complain - seemingly more vociferously/annoying the right people - if it exists at all.

Tbf, from the tone of the article, I'd take a guess that the couple featured have lived near the ground for a good while and are more vexed at the increase in its usage, outside of matchday. But they also sound older and therefore more likely to be affected/moan.

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
I wouldn’t mind betting this is from the same people who have just moved into the new flats . They’ve already managed to get the Leyton dump closed in Gateway RdProposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 6:45 am https://walthamforestecho.co.uk/2024/11 ... residents/

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
Article has now been removed by the looks of it.
I was interpreting it that it was more to do with the club letting out space for parties etc than the noise on Matchdays. If I'm right then it may well spell the end of the club being able to generate revenue by letting out space.

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
That's how I read it. Obviously no idea how much we make from that side of the business (assuming Hearn doesn't Hoover up any of that revenue) but any hit we have to take is bound to be of concern.Fellowo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 10:07 am Article has now been removed by the looks of it.

And doesn't/didn't even say if that was complaints from 22 people, or fewer people banging in loads of complaints. Hard to know the scale of the issue.

Devlin on Twitter refuting the Echo's claim that the Club were asked for comment/response before publishing:
Maybe it's been taken down off the back of a complaint or is being edited.

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
Lots of Snowflakes have moved into the Borough in recent years. They managed to close down an old 100 year kipper smokehouse a few years back as it smelt of fish. Also many move near to pubs and complain about noise and people laughing. Anyway not been as much cheering this season as last.

Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
You're spot on, although don't think they are particularly old. And they are not alone in being upset by the noise, although they are still in a minority.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 9:44 am Tbf, from the tone of the article, I'd take a guess that the couple featured have lived near the ground for a good while and are more vexed at the increase in its usage, outside of matchday. Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
You are correct, now back with updated comment from Orient "spokesperson". Also, contrary to what I said earlier, it did make clear how many people had raised concerns - 20 local residents.OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:41 pmIt will be back. Re: Club to be banned from making noise?
There really is a f***ing scandal in how a minority of nimby moaners have been very useful in the gentrification process of areas that actually has stuff that’s valuable to the community

When they find the bloke who built those flats, there'll be hell to pay!CEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 4:01 pm There really is a f***ing scandal in how a minority of nimby moaners have been very useful in the gentrification process of areas that actually has stuff that’s valuable to the community
