Can't think of a single good candidate to replace Lineker, but extremely grateful that Jenas was outed as a wrongun in time for his name to be out of contention.

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
It’ll be Mark Chapman
I don’t really think it requires expert analysis from, I.e. Micah Richards and Jermaine Jenas between games, but some people seem to think it does
Do the same people think Lineker, Shearer et al add millions upon millions £’s worth of added value?

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Motd is a pure vibes show. People watch it because it gives a short hand version of a full game - pre match build up, post match interviews, a way of putting into context what's happened through surface level analysis. It creates a narrative around what's happened that day in a single show.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 8:05 pmDid you miss the host or the pundit analysis?Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:17 pmIdk, that was really sh*t and kind of underlined the importance of having people actually working on the show.

If you just want highlights, sky and bt put those out within an hour of each match. There's obviously demand for what motd does as it's still one of the most popular shows on iPlayer. It relies heavily on routine and nostalgia, but Lineker does that well.

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
The highlights aren’t a compilation of all teams and the they are also extended in length on the BBC, hence why they pay the Premier League £70,000,000 p.a. for the privilege before they pay their “stars”.
So not exactly a direct comparison to the YouTube highlights

Amazing how snowflakey so many people get about Lineker and MOTD just because he calls out some right wing c*nts on twitter every now and then.

Next presenter?
It’s genuinely of no interest to me; haven’t watched it for maybe 25 years.

One of my favourite things about the internet is people taking the time and trouble to comment that they're not interested in something, when not commenting at all would surely be the best demonstration of this.

Without getting all Daily Mail/GB News about it, just assumed that the BBC would sh!t themselves over choosing another cis white male.

Also, hopefully wrong but I know Chapman stepped back from some stuff after a personal tragedy so he might not even want the main gig. Does Murray still do Fighting Talk or has he left the Beeb completely as well?

Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Out of interest - why? Get that a change can be a bit jarring but the female commentators on motd are as good as any of the male ones and when Emma Hayes was doing co commentary, we got the insight of a genuinely successful manager, instead of Danny Murphy whinging about the game being gone.DuvB wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 9:13 amI am allowed to say that I prefer a male voice.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 4:52 pmFair play for admitting out loud that, regardless of what she might actually say or whether she's any good at her job, you'd fully commit to ignoring a woman simply because she's a woman. 2024, everyone!

Have you never listened to a game Vicky Sparks has done? Re: Lineker leaving MotD
He just prefers men’s voices to women’s voices, so what?
Personally, as a straight male, I much prefer women’s voices and am happy to state that on here. I don’t see the issue with someone coming out with the opposite.

Not a fan of either chapters or Murray - not just because of their men’s voices - and don’t think either warrant the job.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:49 am Also, hopefully wrong but I know Chapman stepped back from some stuff after a personal tragedy so he might not even want the main gig. Re: Lineker leaving MotD
Surely if there’s one thing that everyone can agree on - the wokes, the hipsters, the miserable bastards, the women’s football fans, the racists and the experts, it’s that Eni Aluko really is awful
Re: Lineker leaving MotD
It will definitely be a women and that will give the BBC an opportunity to put the show about Womens' football before the one about Mens'. It will then be even later and not worth staying up for.
