Things could be worse

Post by Chelmsford Swimmer »

At the weekend Sunderland West End were 5-2 up in the 92nd minute and coasting against Yarm & Eaglescliff in Northern League Division 2. They then managed to concede 4 goals in 5 minutes and lost 6-5.

That reminds me of yonks ago being 4-1 up against Hull with about 10 m ins to go and losing 5-4. Goalkeeper was Rhys Wilmot, who was IMO responsible for those 4 late goals. And he went on to occasionally keep for Arsenal in the then 1st Division.

And of course don't forget the 80's game away at Scunny when we were 2 nil up with 4 mins to go & managed to lose 3-2. Sadly, I was there! A bit shell-shocked on the train home to London. The journey wasn't cheap.
