Yeah, reflects badly on both the EFL and the Club to an extent that no-one foresaw this as a potential problem.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:29 pm Needed to make representations to the EFL in May!!! Fuckin useless.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
It’s pretty poor though. I believe that we have had 3 Saturday home games and two of those were in the first two weeks of the season. It’s not exactly helping getting kids and our future supporters through the gate is it. It’s ok saying that we have been unlucky because they were all home games but if they had been away , trying to get to those games on a Tuesday night doesn’t fill me with joy. I doubt any teams will be compensated for lack of gate income.

Surely the international breaks were known before the L1 season calendar was done. Could we have objected to having to postpone 3 home games in the first half of the season?

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
Just checked and we have had one Saturday league fixture at home since 24th August. My grandchildren were on holiday for the August games so one saw the Wrexham game and the other hasn’t seen a game yet despite having season tickets

Far cry from the days of getting kids hooked on £10 season tickets, now you pay hundreds and can't even get them to a game. Aaaaah, progress.

Clearly we did fuc all. Someone has taken a punt that it would work in our favour, rather than requesting parity.

The only thing I’ll give Hearn credit for. I was one of those kids and it got me hooked.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 5:17 pm Far cry from the days of getting kids hooked on £10 season tickets, now you pay hundreds and can't even get them to a game. Aaaaah, progress.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
Regular discussion point but the 4 of us who sit together each home game were all pretty much drawn in by that offer and here we still are 30 years later. Know plenty of others who can say the same. For all his other failings, that one marketing decision must have made the Club 10s of 1000s of pounds over the decades. Brilliant.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 7:25 pmThe only thing I’ll give Hearn credit for. Wonder if the club could move an Orient WFC game to BR on that vacant Saturday? Make it free entry for all, gives people something to watch and gets exposure for the women's game too

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
EFL and FA need to think very hard about the impact these internationals have on clubs such as ours. I plan my holidays around the published fixture list. This season the last home Saturday game I attended was late August, the next will be mid December, if it doesn’t get postponed. This lack of planning and thought by EFL, who seem to care FA about us the fans, shows the extent of their greed.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
No issue buying the season tickets to support the club but the season so far is just summed up as total incompetence both on the pitch, the head in sand re the possible impact of international fixtures and the absolute shambles of this Sky ‘deal’. WTF are the 12:30 kick offs all about!?? 4 matches this season that l (+1/2/3) cannot be bothered with. 12:30 Wigan v Orient why!!!! And no doubt more to come.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
one of the better things about supporting an EFL club particularly in leagues one and two was that you knew that when the fixtures came out. That around 90% of the games would be played on the time and date that it said on fixture release day. IT seems as if it's going the same way as the the top two divisions where you're pretty much rinsed for every penny the clubs can get and not given a toss about. What with the new TV deal and the international breaks meaning that most of our home fixtures are moved. I've already missed more game this season than in the entirety of last. I think the only time that I've felt more disenchanted with football in the last 25 years is in the years of Bezelbub's mad reign. Will consider giving up my season ticket and choosing to come to 8-10 games over the season that are convenient for me next year.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
I don't really understand what the club is supposed to have done about the international breaks. They are set by FIFA. The efl have to work with that schedule.
Our return game against Mansfield is the next international break we'd possibly end up postponing, so essentially we are losing one more home 3pm game than we 'should', on the basis that there are 4 breaks this season that coincide with Saturday home games.

Yes, I don’t see too many fans being rewarded at the end of the season with the 5% discount off their ST because they attended all 23 home games.JimbO wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 11:33 am one of the better things about supporting an EFL club particularly in leagues one and two was that you knew that when the fixtures came out. I wonder when Mark Devlin, for example , realised that we would ‘lose’ 3 Saturday home games due to the International breaks. Was he was pushing ST sales knowing we would have very few Saturday home games, making it difficult for many fans.

Re: Latest date Mansfield could be moved for international
Season ticket sales ended before the fixture list was published. If this was their tactic they wouldn't have capped season ticket sales.
Also not guaranteed we would lose 4. Plenty of games in league 1 have gone ahead despite international break. Last two games have sounded like they were postponed at the request of the other team.

Just like we will do when we play Mansfield away! Think RW mentioned a perceived advantage to play away midweek.
