Eist, a collection of various artists singing in their native language. The language is Irish and it's lovely to my ears. Eist means listen in Irish.

Re: What are you Listening To?
Got tickets to see them years ago and clean forgot I'd bought them. Was then annoyed at missing them when I later saw they were playing and it had sold out. Great stuff.

Re: What are you Listening To?
New album is fantastic, and the track with Grian from Fontaines DC sharing vocals is my track of the year. Has a similar vibe to Tell The King by the libertines

Think I did the same with Sleigh Bells as well. May have had a period of buying tickets when pissed.
Speaking of the Fontaines fella, his solo album is

Re: What are you Listening To?
Yeah it really is. Very different to the Fontaines stuff, too. Talented bloke.
I was jammy enough to get to see them at the Electric Ballroom on album release day, don’t think they’ll be playing venues like that for a while now

Terrible venue but really would have liked to see them at Ally Pally.

Later this month isn’t it? I might end up trying to go last minute, there’s always cheap tickets for ally pally type venues on the day

Ah, thought it had been and gone. I see my gig organisation skills are still top notch.

Re: What are you Listening To?
This came on a random shuffle earlier, so I had to go back and listen to their brilliant album. I'm sure there are plenty of examples of technically superior guitar solos, but that sound from 2'37 is pure perfection IMO.

Laura Marlings new album is stunning. Could be a real classic - need more listens.
Hitting me quite hard cos it’s all about her young kid

Re: What are you Listening To?
Don't think I've ever actually listened to an album of her's in full, but I saw her 15 years ago at Brudenell Social - ace venue - supporting Daniel Johnston and she was absolutely mesmerising. Just an incredible voice and set.

I’m assuming you’re familiar with Big Thief? This is incredible (from a few years back but all their stuff is good)

Think she’s only done a few things in the last 5-10 years.CEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:37 pm Have never heard a Laura Marling album I didn’t love, but i also sort of forget she exists for long periods. Will check this out, cheers

Hope they’ve got a new album out soon. Vampire Empire was my favourite song of last year by anyoneCEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 5:59 pm I’m assuming you’re familiar with Big Thief? This is incredible (from a few years back but all their stuff is good)

Re: What are you Listening To?
Yes, the new songs were good, but the sound wasn’t great so wasn’t the best I’d seen them (I’d also say their new bassist doesn’t quite have that effortless feel that the guy they sacked had)
But Adrienne Lenker played at the Barbican a few months before, and that was astounding. The only vocalist who comes close to her is Beth Gibbons, if you’re talking a voice to make every hair on your body stand on edge

Re: What are you Listening To?
The Lower Third, you have to go through a cocktail bar and then out the back and through another building then underground to get it. It’s a great little venue thoughoxo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:36 amWhat music venue is on Denmark St?CEB2ElectricBoogaloo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 8:37 am Saw these a couple of months back in Denmark street.
