Fans seem to be tourists or middle class yuppies. Houses around the ground are around £4m. Rubbish away support too- we have numbers similar to them

Re: Are Fulham the most plastic of PL clubs?
Visited Craven Cottage a year or so back for Fulham’s game with Leicester.
It’s a lovely ground, but they are a ‘different’ crowd, certainly not the usual type of Football fans. We really enjoyed our visit and was surprised to see both home and away fans mingle together without any problems, at the Putney end.
They might be a bit ‘plastic’ but apparently they are the oldest club in London, and we are second oldest.

Think I saw that they have the highest ticket prices in the PL because they're specifically going after the tourists and floating supporters. Even when we went there in 06 they had a 'neutral' stand.

When Orient stop having special days for international fans then you can talk about ‘tourists’ at other clubs.

Fulham is dominated by tourists. Much more than Orient tbh

The PL feels all like this to me, with the exception of one or two teams like Liverpool. Got free tickets for TH last year and the atmosphere was horrible. It felt more like a a shopping excursion for tourists than a football game.

Did you have a bet on Big Ron? Did you ever sort out your social cub in Bethnal Green which you shared on here?

I left that game alone , the club if definitely going to be sold , alas they can't sell it till they get the guy out from upstairs who's refusing to go , it's all a bit complicated at the moment, hopefully it'll happen next year

I know a few people who got season tickets there because it’s the only club without a massive waiting list. You can see prem football, don’t see the problem really

Besides what is a tourist? Plenty of Londoners travel up to watch Man U each home game and plenty of people from rural areas travel into London to watch many sides - having driven past far more local league sides.
Do Fulham have more tourists? Not got a clue but if the model works for them then good luck. People often talk about Brentford as a model but Fulham isn't such a bad case study either.

The owners model is what American investors dream of - outrageous prices targeted at casual single match goers with a huge hospitality offering. They are probably unique in how aggressively they market themselves like that but the amount of American investment coming in means they will become increasingly the norm.
Their core support is not happy with the pisstake ticket prices but it's a bit of a Faustian pact as it allows them to be a competitive premiership team and it's a deal I reckon a lot of our core support would gladly take if it meant playing at a higher level. Not sure a ground overlooking the Lea Valley has quite the same draw as the Thames for a tourist mind...

Great location on the banks of the Thames. Terrific pubs thereabouts. Do they still hand out those plastic clacky things to the "fans"?

It usually sells out every year. Orient’s model is to attract neutrals for a day out.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:47 pmYeah but no-one attends ours.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:19 pm When Orient stop having special days for international fans then you can talk about ‘tourists’ at other clubs.
Its a weird thing to bring up as an Orient fan.
