This season
Anyone else just not really feeling it this season?
Usually by the time November rolls around I’m usually well into it. But this year it just ain’t happening. Too many variables making it hard to enjoy it at the moment:
The stop/start beginning to the season.
countless rearranged fixtures
Loads of games on a Tuesday night
Weeks on end without a home game
Really lacklustre squad and poor form
The atmosphere in the away end at WW last week got really toxic as well, especially at the end.
The vibe around the club is a bit off at the moment. I don’t even really care about the FA cup match tomorrow and certainly won’t be attending (can’t stand that manky Borehamwood ground).
I’ll probably only do 3 or away games this year. I usually do 10+.

Re: This season
Add to that the ridiculous ticket prices and the fact the owners now want out i think everyone is feeling the same.
A natural even-ing out of a really successful period where things have generally gone our way.
Think things will get better this year, we just need a good run of form and all the things listed feel less important

Re: This season
55 years of supporting Orient & the last 5 years while enjoyable, has really felt a little uncomfortable. Never trust Life when it's all going To Well. This season I'm feeling a lot happier, normality restored & can't wait for the last 10 games of a relegation fight. The uncertainty of not knowing mid table or play offs last season was terrible.

Re: This season
Effects of the Sky deal on fixtures for what's a very poor quality service when Orient are shown
Awful summer transfer window sees progress go backwards from last season
A general malaise in the ranks whether it's NT calling out fans or RW firing shots in his interviews
Potential takeover / sale but no concrete interest yet
All is not quite as it would normally be

Can't afford a first round exit, check out the prize money for each round and add that up for, say 3rd round and that's the difference of getting a decent player in January (well in financial theory anyway, our recruitment ability is another thing entirely)

Re: This season
Agreed.
It’s such fine margins as well. One proper striker last January instead of two kids and we may well have gate crashed the play offs. A totally different end to the season that could have rolled on into this season.
And again, we’re 1 proper keeper (instead of two kids) and 1 striker away from a play off challenging side this season. If you’re going to lose £4m, might as well lose £4.2 or £4.3m and have some success.

It’ll only affect the investors. None of it will be spent on January.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:10 pm Effects of the Sky deal on fixtures for what's a very poor quality service when Orient are shown

I think that a win tomorrow and probably more importantly, next week at home to Blackpool would give everybody a big, much needed lift. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 4:18 pm Anyone else just not really feeling it this season?

I do agree with the OP though, although the lack of Saturday 3pm home games isn’t the clubs fault but is frustrating for the fans.
I think ‘Football in General’ are allowing too much televised football, and along with increased ticket prices means many fans aren’t bothering to attend games, choosing instead to watch on Sky.
Our Summer recruitment was also poor and I expect a number of questions about this at the forthcoming fans forum.

Re: This season
The lack of Saturday fixtures is the club’s fault. Given the more acute affect on our attendances they should have been lobbying for some parity in this regard. Amateurish! 3 season tickets here that have so far been used once.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:54 pmI think that a win tomorrow and probably more importantly, next week at home to Blackpool would give everybody a big, much needed lift. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 4:18 pm Anyone else just not really feeling it this season?

AFAIK the club don’t arrange the fixture dates or when the International breaks are, so how is it the clubs fault ??Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:32 pmThe lack of Saturday fixtures is the club’s fault. They must lose a lot of revenue so it’s not something they would want.

Re: This season
They know the international dates and the affect it has on attendances and more so what they are attempting to ‘build’ at the club. I’m certain that whoever puts the fixtures together could easily tweak the system to ensure that a club doesn’t lose 3 home fixtures this side of Xmas. I’m also sure that they would also be amenable to any clubs approach for at least parity in this regard. Someone at the club is responsible for either not approaching the EFL or taking a punt that it would work in our favour. A total of 3 home Saturday 3pm kick offs this side of Xmas is just not third tier football!

You can blame the club for a lot of things, but the fixtures is surely not one of them.

Totally agree, the club don’t have any say back in June regarding our fixtures.Story of O wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:13 am You can blame the club for a lot of things, but the fixtures is surely not one of them.
We’ve been very unlucky losing 3 Saturday home games, but I would imagine we’re not alone in this.

Re: This season
You certainly can blame the club for the total lack of foresight here. Probably affects our attendances more than any other EFL club.

Re: This season
I think it affects other clubs as well, not just Orient, and I would hope that the club will try to take some steps to see it either doesn’t happen again, or we are less affected. Think I read on here that Mansfield for example have been scheduled to play away on each of the international breaks.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 9:03 am You certainly can blame the club for the total lack of foresight here. Between this, the increased ticket prices and saturation SKY Tv coverage many fans will think hard about a season ticket come May next year.

Re: This season
The away games have been like this for a long time, I think. The more local ones particularly, if Orient aren't doing well. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 4:18 pm

I get that, people spend a lot of money on away-days, but no-one is holding a gun to their head to do it.
People seem to struggle to process that, in a football match (a draw aside) one team wins and the other loses. That doesn't mean an ensuing meltdown of infant like proportions is appropriate, and it certainly doesn't move anyone forward.
It's a societal problem of entitlement, as much as a football one. It's written all over this MB, too.
Similar to you Rev, for a good period I would do 10-15 aways a season. Now I content myself with 2 or 3. This season I've only done Lincoln. No doubt I'm not missed, and nor do I really miss it. That's more due to the "supporters" as much as the players potential poor form.
Orient used to be fun and silly. Now, people act like it's life and death. It's important to a degree, but it's so far from life and death people need to give their heads a wobble.
