Decent.
A bit painful in terms of a decision I need to make now after planning to send the boy to prep schoool and for the first time ever VAT lands on the year he’s due to start. Not sure if I can afford it now. Understand why they did it but it squeezes the middle class rather than the rich where it won’t touch the sides, and then put more pressure on the state schools.

That said. Think she’s done well with the sh*t show she’s been given

That's a shame, still you could always spend the school fees on private tuition to help the little one along

Subjective isn’t it, but broadly, those who have more money than they could spend in several lifetimes and who still want more, more, more.

I've not had time to look into the detail of the budget, but this kind of thing just looks ridiculous.

I mean, a whole f*cking penny! Whoop-de-f*cking-do!

‘The Middle’ don’t go to private schools. It’s just the ‘top’ 5%.

This was one of the only good bits to come out of it.

Well, i earn well less than £100k, my missus is on about half my wage cos she works for a charity and I have 0 generational wealth or hand me downs.

Ive just prioritised my kids schooling over getting a finance deal on a flash car. Its also effectively the same as his nursery fees currently.

Maybe I'm in the top 5% after all.

Need someone to explain the logic for this. Surely paying for private school saves the state system anyway. They have budgeted for a child that doesn’t apply for a place. Is that too simple of me

Yes, too simple.

I’m sure you don’t really need someone to explain the logic and fully understand the arguments against private education, whether you agree with them or not.

There is nothing wrong with private education. There is lots wrong with state education. That’s where the focus should be. Will VAT on private education improve state education. I somehow doubt it.

There is everything wrong with private education.

Banning it would force the state offering to be improved overnight.
