Ruel Sotiriou
Anyone missing this guy? He never really nailed down his place but would always pop up and get a crucial goal from nowhere. I'd say he earned 5/6 points for us single handed last season. The way we've struggled in front of goal this year, I'm thinking it was a mistake to let him go. I can't imagine he was on big wages or we got a big fee for him

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
We offered him a rise to sign a new contract. Rovers him 40% on top of that. He signed for RoversCaptain Zep wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:39 pm Anyone missing this guy? Re: Ruel Sotiriou
Don’t think he’s as good as he thought he was . Scored a few for us, but he’s not scoring at Bristol. Shows how very poor our strikers have been for a long time now

He’d be great if he was perma 1 year contracts as he always turned it on when his contract was expiring

The fact that some are looking at Ruel with rose tinted glasses only shows how poor our current forwards are.

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
I liked him.
A ragged and untidy player for sure. He did not fit the automaton/robot mould that modern football so desires (in being able to do a bit of everything) but he knew where the goal was.
Came through the ranks and was with the club at it's lowest ebb (same for Happe as well) and he felt like a good "fit", albeit only as a squad player really.
However by all accounts he wanted 6 grand a week which is unrealistic for a squad player at a club of Orient's size. Not sure what he's getting at Rovers, but I would imagine had he stayed we'd have at least a couple more in the "goals for" column..

Will never be a 9/10 player, too untidy; but can smack a few goals in when presented with the chance. A 'Johnny on the spot' really..

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
As Sid Bishop knows all too well I definitely wasn't a fan. OK as a bench impact player but a liability when placed into the starting XI.
For £6k a week definitely not good value with our limited budget.

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
I don't think people look at Soteriou through rose tinted glasses. Because we point out a few attributes in his favour doesn't mean we're giving him a 9 out of 10 as a striker. It's not always just good or bad, there's such a thing as middle ground. Insight..

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
Never mind Ruel even Drinan and Pigott would be luxuries compared to what we have on the bench at present in the striking department

At the moment we are in a dire situation. We definitely need a scorer, maybe our budget would just about stretch to getting someone from NL.

Re: Ruel Sotiriou
I went and saw Ebbsfleet v Rochdale few weeks back , cannot remember the names but Rochdale had a couple decent looking players as did Ebbsfleet for that matter. I am sure there are hungry souls in that league desperate to be given a chance but it takes a bit of guts and a gamble taking a player from that league. All the matches will be tough up until January and beyond of course. The battle to stay up must start now.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 5:29 pmWho would you suggest we took a look at ?Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 4:52 pm At the moment we are in a dire situation. Battle to stay up started in August, in truth. I don’t think we have the experience snd ability to fight our way out of it. I hope I am proved wrong.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 3:39 pmBattle to stay up started in August, in truth. Re: Ruel Sotiriou
Good impact player at this level, and a proper "highlights reel" player - which goes some way to explaining why Rovers did their dough on him.
But he's not a regular starter, and even if we'd had the money to compete with Rovers for his signing it would have been better spent elsewhere (eg Shaq Forde)
