Used on player wage increases, they should be ashamed of the performance they put in.

This lot should not be given anymore money, it will be wasted like the money gone before it. You have to cut out what is rotting at this club.
Recruitment and players who are nowhere near good enough to be at this club need to be gone asap. It’s the only way this club will survive in the football league let alone league 1

He’s not a happy man, but, who can blame him.
If he’d known what was on offer I doubt he’d have signed a new contract.

He has been properly stitched up. I’m not saying he is blameless but there’s a pattern emerging here. The same thing happened to Jackett.

One of the smallest budgets and light on quality . You only have to look at our piss poor summer recruitment to know where the blame lay's . The clubs board has to look at itself in the mirror.

Indeed . It smacks of a lack of ambition . I'm not expecting challenging for promotion every season ( although that would be great ) but I did think we would have a team that could compete at this level .

As DOF he has to take the blame - along with the board - you can’t pass this on to the manager .

Don't know how he can't shoulder some of it, considering, you know, that's his job and all.

I accept the budget it poor but you can't look at that squad and tell me we've spent it wisely.

The manager can only do some much with the “chosen squad “. The way RW coaches you need the right players.
He had these last season, but, when he wanted to push for the playoffs he got no support in the January window!

That's the thing people have short memories. This manager won a League 2 title when adequately backed, then had us on verge of playoffs but wasn't backed.

Does he become a bad manager overnight, imo no. Has he been put in a very difficult spot by the summer recruitment, absolutely.

I remember Russell Slade saying once that he'd rather have quality over quantity. Considering we have a small budget I'd rather our squad was smaller but with better quality players . It was a policy that so nearly paid off at Wembley with promotion up to the Championship . For example signing players like Perkins, DJ and Warrington was a complete waste of money . It would have been better to sign a player like El-Miz than those three plonkers .

Your right we can see it, but alas none of us are on the board.
I thought a DOF would advise the directors of the best way forward.

The 2 January loan signings should have been the red flag as to where this was going. We totally fuccked up last season with those planks and have continued the policy into this season. Evidenced by the fact that we have more loanees than room for them in the match day squad!!!!

Which metrics would you use to assess Lings performance?

That's the rub isn't it.

Ling, Richie and the board all take a share of the blame. Individually not all of it, but collectively most of it. We're operating at a higher footballing level now than most of these guys have ever operated.

You can't expect success at L1 level by doing the same things that worked at NL/L2 level, things have to evolve - including the budget.

We need personnel with L1/Championship experience to carry us forward. I think the board have shown too much sentiment to the men who 'saved the club' years ago, that debt is paid. It pains me to say I have no faith in our current recruitment team to spend wisely or unearth some hidden gems to pull us out of this hole. I hope they prove me wrong.

The question is was RW responsible for the summer signings or was it that the players we got was way down his list. The budget is not at the amount for us to survive in this league. We could not even find a suitable goalie to give a contract to. Too many loanees with no experience in this league. 2goals in the last 6 games is the worst in this league by far. We need 2 strikers but have no know idea where we are going to find them. I don’t think the boards ambitions match RW whether. he would do better at a larger club is debatable . I think RW only remains here due to loyalty to the board

This discussion also reminded me of one of the things said during this summer recruitment.

It went along the lines of "rather than get average L1 / L2 players we see more value in loaning young players from further up"

So when the lack of experience and naive decision making comes up that was a strategic decision not only budgetary.

I think he’s frustrated because he’s nearly always up against clubs with better squads and more resources. He’s a good manager and he gets on with it but he deserves to be at a better club
