Scouting and recruitment at this club
These are the people who really need to be held accountable. This club doesn’t have a lot of cash, so we should be investing heavily in this area of the club, it is as clear as day that we have either not been investing enough or we have a group of wage robbers.
The quality that has come through the door since the start of the year has been so poor, most if not all of these players wouldn’t get into league 2 teams starting line ups. Both scouts, recruitment and players have taken us for a ride it would seem. The only people who have done well are the agents getting contracts for these players.

They got a player from the Essex Senior League who now has 6 goals in 10 games. That’s good scouting

Our scouts are more likely to recruit seniors citizens from Essex with 6 half price train tickets to Southend.Story of O wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:05 pmThey got a player from the Essex Senior League who now has 6 goals in 10 games. That’s good scouting

Re: Scouting and recruitment at this club
We probably do have relationships with
these clubs it’s just we wait til the first
week of August to do our business when
all the other clubs business is done ..
Been going on for far to long now and the
owners have to get there head out of the
sand and see how poorly there club is
being run whilst there across the pond ..
So many partnerships being run at the club
and yet we can’t get a strike partnership..

Re: Scouting and recruitment at this club
Totally agree, there is little to no pint moving the club to a bigger stadium if we can’t get right on the pitch first. Invest in players more, recruitment and scouting is awful. This is the area they need to review and concentrate on. Get it correct in the pitch, then look at moving. We do not fill the ground we have.

Totally agree, one wonders how wide our scouting network is, or isn’t, why aren’t we picking up players like that.Story of O wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:05 pmThey got a player from the Essex Senior League who now has 6 goals in 10 games. That’s good scouting

Ling doesn’t like travelling very much. He strikes me as more of an internet search kind of guyCheshunto wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:47 pmTotally agree, one wonders how wide our scouting network is, or isn’t, why aren’t we picking up players like that.Story of O wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:05 pmThey got a player from the Essex Senior League who now has 6 goals in 10 games. All these threads are emotional jibberish but Ling has reached his limits ability wise (which is fine btw, he’s done what he was brought in to do). If we want to continue having a small budget for the league but big ambitions we need someone with ability to think outside the box

Or better still get into the box, which is the real issue.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:56 pm All these threads are emotional jibberish but Ling has reached his limits ability wise (which is fine btw, he’s done what he was brought in to do). Re: Scouting and recruitment at this club
To make the most of the budget you can't waste it on multiple poor signings but it's the same patterns
- players with poor injury records who break down again and spend most of their contract on treatment table
- ever more loan youths from bigger clubs where we're taking the brunt of their development, this season multiple "first time loans" which the manager specifically said in January he didn't want
- players signed late and unfit, the latter seems really noticeable this season

Re: Scouting and recruitment at this club
As always we get this waffle about signing players early when its about signing the right players not when you sign them. We signed Perkins in June, Wycombe signed Cameron Humphreys on 21st August!Hedmans Header wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:24 pmWe probably do have relationships with

Re: Scouting and recruitment at this club
A lot of the time I think it's due to Richie being nuts and he can't accept sometimes he is wrong, he is obsessed with making Kelman work, Brown ditto and others, it's almost like he won't admit that he maybe wrong and look to fix it, he badly wanted Kelman and he got him, so he can't moan, the recruitment is not great but the squad is still half-decent and no where near this clueless current look

Re: Brown that's a player he inherited from that fantastic KJ January group, if anything the "club" wants Brown to be a starter as they think he can be a saleable asset. Reality is he's a squad utility player that if we had any level of quality available wouldn't be newer the first XIessexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 7:40 pm A lot of the time I think it's due to Richie being nuts and he can't accept sometimes he is wrong, he is obsessed with making Kelman work, Brown ditto and others, it's almost like he won't admit that he maybe wrong and look to fix it, he badly wanted Kelman and he got him, so he can't moan, the recruitment is not great but the squad is still half-decent and no where near this clueless current look
Struggle to find the half decent bit in the squad as a unit.
GK - one OK-ish youth and one liability
LB / RB - no cover or competition
CB - bang average, at least some cover
CDM - poor, our best performer there was a RB, now crocked
CM - relying on a 40 year old and a player still doing pre-season, plus some youths who don't even get near the bench
CAM - no competition or cover
Wide players, a couple of badly crocked ones who will be lucky to be 75% of their former selves, a youngster out of form and a summer signings still nowhere near being fit
Strikes, out of form Agyei and Kelman, plus a joke signing from Leeds U23

Obiero is the one to me that could be a real player and after a good month he was then banished by the ........managergshaw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 7:51 pmRe: Brown that's a player he inherited from that fantastic KJ January group, if anything the "club" wants Brown to be a starter as they think he can be a saleable asset. The squad is half-decent, it's not a top squad by any means but it's easy enough to stay up, look at the runs last year
CDM you've got Ball, Prats, Brown, Clare even
Combine the above
I agree to a degree but this squad is miles better than what it is showing and the biggest bit is, play to the strengths, pack the midfield if it is weak, change the style, Wellens is going to reach this level and never go higher as he is far too arrogant and pig-headed in his ideologies, I think he could be a Championship coach if he just a bit more humility and flexibility at times
Wellens love Kelman and in most interviews says how class he is and they see real talent, again the manager...

gshaw, putting like that it's got relegation written all over it but to be honest it's what the club's board deserves .

A potentially good player lacking in match fitnessessexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 7:56 pm

A 40 year old player who can only be used sparingly
A squad player who isn't first XI quality in L1
A RB who was actually our best midfield but is also now injured for a period of time
As for Warrington, possibly a record for fastest inhabitant of Boco Island?

The fans paying to watch this shower don’t deserve it. They deserve so much more than what they are getting.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 8:09 pm gshaw, putting like that it's got relegation written all over it but to be honest it's what the club's board deserves .
