Football basics, when building a team make sure you have a strong spine down the middle to build your team around, goal keeper, centre halves and centre forward. Richie left out the centre forward and keeper as his main priorities to sign. So many midfielders and poor choice of loan keepers and no centre forward brought in.Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:06 pmIt's lack of budget more than used badlySid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:03 pm''Is it just lack of budget or budget being used poorly as Richie has alluded to previously ?''
Yes without a doubt and how is your prediction going that Kelman would score around 20 goals this season ?

Re: How long has Richie got?
Did he leave them out or did the recruitment team fail to get the players he wanted? A striker has been a requirement since January. Amazes me how the DoF and his team get a free pass every time, the poor recruitment happened to Jackett and now repeating itself for Wellens too.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:14 pmFootball basics, when building a team make sure you have a strong spine down the middle to build your team around, goal keeper, centre halves and centre forward. Right let's explain some stuff
Hope that all helps yougshaw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:12 pmLast year's loan GK was a liability too, a proper pro in goal would've been worth another 6-9 points. It's only this season the club managed to sign an even worse one that makes Brynn look like superman in comparison.Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:00 pm Because they use loans elsewhere.
Oxford won promotion using loans & Barnsley had plenty, so did Reading last & this season. Keeley will be our number 1 from now on & will do well.
Last year we finished 11th without a striker or goalkeeper we owned.
This year Wrexham have more money than us as do stockport & Bristol Rovers, Stevenage find a way somehow which is probably to do with there Chairmen being closer to 60 than Nigel being closer to 80.
Same with Mansfield, forget about the top 12 our budget is bottom 12. Accept that & see the fact new investment has to be found.
I've posted an idea under the topic Nigel, it might be a bit out there but it's not just repeatedly saying GK CDM & Striker. Stop moaning & come up with ideas to help the club sell itself to new Owners whoever they might be
That's great Keeley will become #1 so now we're paying a nice chunk of wage for a reserve keeper due to poor recruitment, that's the kind of waste the club can't afford.Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:00 pm Brynn now part of a Championship Squad sitting in 9th place 4 points off a play off spot Do you really understand football
First way to sell it is to not drop into League 2, a far less attractive proposition
I think the 20 goal number was posted by someone else but Kelman is still our top scorer...Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:03 pm ''Is it just lack of budget or budget being used poorly as Richie has alluded to previously ?''

All examples of using the budget well?Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:06 pm Warrington, Perkins, Jaiyesimi, Hemming
We have to fill a squad, Warrington is the next Brown, Jayesimi is a cheaper Moncur perkins is a young cheap Pigott/Alabi ( the latter signed by JE)Bandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:06 pm A lot less money spent so we could get Ball Currie Clare & Kelman

Re: How long has Richie got?
The quotes are horribly broken but just for the Brynn point alone, he doesn't play just a reserve player. Two games this season both in the tinpot EFL Cup, 5 goals against.

Hemming over Brynn then eh? Is that why Middlesbro took the younger keeper we had last season back & palmed us off with other & older one on loan in Scotland the last 3 seasons ?gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:43 pm The quotes are horribly brokenbut just for the Brynn point alone, he doesn't play just a reserve player. Yes, a good post, and no he probably won't change because he's too stubborn and maybe a touch arrogant.OldTownO wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:48 pmI think you’re right, and it’s a common mistake, people often do it.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:57 pm Richie needs to wake up, he needs to go away from what he says as idealistic plan a football and focus more on how to win games, the current malaise isn't doing his career any good nor Orient

Richie has done the FA badges and has a way he wants to work, he’s watched the systems that the premier league top teams operate and thinks that what he wants us to do. But what he seems to be missing is that he’s unable to adapt his methods to the options available.
You can’t make a silk purse from a sows ear, so, you cut your cloth accordingly. If the players you have can’t play the system you want you either need to change the system or change the players, and I don’t see the manager looking to change the system.
Get into the championship and then start to play ‘man city’ style, but at this moment it’s not working, clearly

Surely that's not arrogance & just the gritty Northerner who put some steel into us when he won us our first football league title in 50 odd yearsChief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:56 pmYes, a good post, and no he probably won't change because he's too stubborn and maybe a touch arrogant.OldTownO wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:48 pmI think you’re right, and it’s a common mistake, people often do it.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:57 pm Richie needs to wake up, he needs to go away from what he says as idealistic plan a football and focus more on how to win games, the current malaise isn't doing his career any good nor Orient

Re: How long has Richie got?
Third choice vs fourth choice, neither suitable to be our #1 is the key point, plus the fact we're chopping and changing keepers regularly isn't going to help making a strong defensive unit eitherBandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:47 pmHemming over Brynn then eh? Re: How long has Richie got?
Keeley has been on international duties & its easier to have him not on the bench with loan rules 5 in a match day squad (we don't need fines or points deducted).gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:10 pmThird choice vs fourth choice, neither suitable to be our #1 is the key point, plus the fact we're chopping and changing keepers regularly isn't going to help making a strong defensive unit eitherBandy Legs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:47 pmHemming over Brynn then eh? Hemming 2 mistakes v Birmingham cost us 3 points, Another mistake against Bolton cost us a point, another mistake when Happe didn't clatter the forward at Charlton cost us a point Kelman missing a glorious chance v wrexham cost us 3 points, Agyei missing 2 great chances yesterday cost us 3 points. Hemming won't start again if Keeley is available defence hopefully fixed. Clare out for 2-3 months is a problem as he totally changes our midfield when fit. Kelman & Agyei need to start scoring heavily. Let's get Graham & Archibald back playing & hopefully things will click. Get rid of Perkins & maybe find someone to get a few goals like Campbell did in 89 eh.
Keep the faith

I like how you get some people saying Richie is too stubborn/arrogant and refuses to change, and others saying he needs to stop making so many subs and changing formations so often mid game.
