We could have played on until next Saturday and still not score, Agyei and Kelman were poor but they are the ONLY strikers we have, that’s the really scary thing, if one of them gets injured we only have ‘Dorothy ‘ Perkins to start up front.
Everyone knows our recruitment has been poor over the Summer……..whose fault it is, god knows, surely RW realised that we were always a striker or two light……..we badly need another striker who knows where the back of the net is.
Exactly . People like me were saying before the season started that we needed another striker . We lost Sotiriou and Forde so it was bloody obvious we needed another striker brought in . We've gone down from four strikers to two . In fact although Pigott was sh*t if you want to include him it's five down to two . Perkins doesn't count .. A young cheap inexperienced loanee who offers nothing .
The "we need a centre forward" line could be copy & pasted from December 2023, absolutely ridiculous that after the Edwards / Adu-Adjei situation all that Wellens ends up with is Perkins
Quite incredible that this is even a point of discussion but even Pigott would be an improvement on our current bench options.
Perkins, Warrington, Jaiyesimi, Donley not one of them making any kind of meaningful contribution is shocking

I understand the budget is restricted and we’re having to do things on the cheap but we’d be better off with one proper, senior L1 standard player than that lot.

Clare is out for two or three months
That's even worse news than the result today
* lost our only effective CDM
* lost our only proper RB with any pace
* higher risk of Sweeney playing as no other fit full back options (unless you weaken the midfield taking Galbraith out to put there)
Got to be asking questions of this new fitness team as we have players gone backwards in their levels from last season and a number breaking down already.
I think it's a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians
In a strange way I am reassured by that interview. I think RW has seen that we’re not where we need to be and it’s no longer bad luck or the odd mistake.
After a decent start in terms of performances we have been way off it for a good while now.
We can’t change the playing squad, certainly not quickly so we have to change our tactics. We’ve been doing the same for weeks now, with the same personnel and it’s not worked.
RW needs to go back to the drawing board. Can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

It seems from that interview he has the players in something of a tactical straitjacket tbh. Maybe there’s a lack of emphasis on effort and commitment and too much focus on technique which our players find difficult to execute?
Totally agree. In some of his interviews he is talking very technical and if talks to the players in that style particularly the younger ones I can understand they are confused. When things are going well you don’t have to complicate your team talk. His frustration is getting to the players.
Whether he's responsible for bringing in substandard players or not, isn't it the manager's job to ensure they - in pretty much his words - want to score goals?

The primary job of ANY coach is to improve the players he has available to him. I think it’s fair to ask if RW and his team are doing that presently?
In previous interviews, RW has said we’re in a false position in the table and should have more points, and the same was implied by NT in his recent interview too. I have only seen two games in full this season (Charlton & Exeter), but from what I have seen and what I read here I don’t think that is a view shared by us fans. I am personally surprised we’re not in the bottom four, but the bottom five are coming adrift, and we’ve lost both games we’ve played against other teams in the bottom six
Ok we had a stonking win at Stockport (still their only defeat), the win at Reading too, but overall we’ve just not been good enough. The defence is ok, we’d be mid-table on goals conceded, but we just don’t look like scoring - only four teams have scored less than us, and take that Stockport game out we’d be the worst of all.
The league table doesn’t lie, maybe reality is dawning at the club, it needs to.

The table doesn’t lie at the end of the season. It does lie in October

Agreed. I think RW came to that conclusion yesterday too. We’re losing to poor teams and can’t score. Not an insignificant problem. Time is on our side.
