They have beaten us in almost every single important game they've played us in, apart from 66, and have won 4 world cups and 3 euros to our one world cup. There isn't any cultural rivalry from their perspective. If it is a rivalry, it's pathetically one sided.
It's not about how many times they have beaten us or how much better than us they have been over the years. Its about history whether you like it or not. Almost every country in the world raises their eyebrows and their game when they get pitted against us. The nation that invented the game. Don't kid yourself, the Germans get a special kick out of it when they beat us.

From my observations: no, they dont. They are mostly bemused as to why they are seen by the Brits as the greatest rival.
My take on it: the Brits are deluded about their greatness in the world and are into the fantasy of being the inventors of football (along with the fantasy of being the inventors of democracy and parliaments). Time to face and accept reality.

I think Tuchel is a very brave man: the likes of CCH will be desperate for him to fail ( to satisfy their disdain of anything German) while also desperate for someone to make the England team win to satisfy their delusion of inborn greatness and superiority.
Your last paragraph saying about how much i want him to fail also tells me how the likes of you reach wrong conclusions when in discussion with other people. Because not only is your assertion totally wrong it is plain stupid.

I have nothing against the appointment of foreign managers in principle. It's understandable why smaller and less advantaged nations need to do so. However, I also think that it's reasonable to assert that international tournaments should, in the main, be contested by the best talent that each country is able to produce, including the coach/manager.

It is ridiculous that a nation with as rich a footballing history as England, its Premier League, it's vast population etc, has utterly failed for decades to produce a suitable pool of talent. I cannot imagine serious footballing nations, such as Italy, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France etc, having to even contemplate such a notion. Should that happen, their respective FAs would be hounded out of their jobs.

When Sven was appointed in 2001, it was also on the basis that the FA would learn form the experience and invest in developing a credible pool of talent for the future. And now, a quarter of a century on, we've apparently made little progress.

Id go along with the principle that it should be the same nationality rules for managers as it is for players. Worth bearing in mind that Brazil are tanking because of their Brazilians only approach though (which is why they tried to get Ancelotti).

Think part of the problem is that the premiership is so rich and competitive that even middling teams like Bournemouth or Palace can bring in some of the highest rated coaches from foreign leagues. Why take the risk of appointing someone from the championship when you can get the manager at a Spanish or German equivalent to your club who's already shown they can get a team punching well above their weight in similar circumstances?

I would have been happy with Carsley as he was getting good results with the under 21s, but hard to pass up on someone like Tuchel if he was interested. He's in that category of best 5-10 managers in the world, whilst I don't think you'd include a single Englishman in the top 30.
