Theo out for another 10 months
Confirmed by Richie last night, basically it's gone again so the poor guy is back to square one.
Big blow for both Theo and the club and with only signing a one year deal in the summer, looks like we won't be seeing Theo in an O's shirt again.
Such a shame.

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
Not expecting to read that this morning, a real shame for a much loved player at Orient. Possibly career ending now

Very bad news for all concerned. I wish him well but fear the worst if I’m honest.

That’s a shame. Missing basically two seasons of football is a lot. Could potentially be career ending.

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
Not heard the full details of his injury but this is catastrophic news for Theo, the squad, the coaching and medical staff, the club and us fans.
I was hoping that come January Theo would be a key player in our charge up the table. He is the 100% , die for the cause, inspiring player that Richie has been asking for in recent interviews.
Massive blow for him, but here's to a recovery and back playing again against the odds.

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
He was great for us in our championship winning season in league 2. A real fans favourite
He must be devastated. To be honest I always had a doubt if he would ever get back playing, because the injury was so severe. I truly hope he does.
The club may have a dilemma too. Theo's contract ends in the summer, and the club will have to decide if they are going to offer him another.

He was walking around fine on Friday when he got off the train at Bethnal Green. Must have happened over the weekend or yesterday.

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
Such an unusual " injury" finding out theres a bit of your knee missing. I guess the prognosis meant it was always a bit wait and see if he could /can make a full recovery but he was doing so well. I guess he's still under contract for eight of those ten Months, hopefully he will improve enough to get a month by month contract in July to prove he can still come back.

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
Due to the state of our finances, I would think that that was highly unlikely.

A fan's favourite to the unknowledgeable fan....Yes, he plays with some élan, but isn't actually a particularly good footballer. His stats just aren't very good. Last season he made 28 starts, scoring only 2 goals & 5 assists....

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
Harsh as he was often pushed into the RWB role for the "greater good" which blunted his attacking threat. We'd be a better side with him playing right now imoPagan Orient wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 6:37 pm A fan's favourite to the unknowledgeable fan....Yes, he plays with some élan, but isn't actually a particularly good footballer. Re: Theo out for another 10 months
That's a fair point, although something of a low bar given our league position. Honestly, if he doesn't kick a ball for us again I won't bat an eyelid. Still, hopefully he can resurrect his career elsewhere.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 6:47 pmHarsh as he was often pushed into the RWB role for the "greater good" which blunted his attacking threat. Re: Theo out for another 10 months
For me, Theo plays (for us) like he actually cares about the club/shirt. May not be the most gifted but plays with a swagger, and really lets the opponent know they've been in a game. It's not (the so often insincere) #passion, but a genuine will to win.Pagan Orient wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 6:51 pmThat's a fair point, although something of a low bar given our league position. In contrast, to the somewhat robotic iterations displayed by the modern footballer.
I wish the bloke well and would love to see back in an O's shirt without a shadow of a doubt.
It's all about opinions of course..!

Re: Theo out for another 10 months
The sad fact is that even if he does recover fully, he won’t have played for two years, and that’s going to be very hard to come back from. Jordon Graham has been out for about a year and he’s been rubbish since he came back. I think we won’t see Theo again here.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:06 pmFor me, Theo plays (for us) like he actually cares about the club/shirt. Re: Theo out for another 10 months
I wonder if Theo's other knee is also without the ACL ?
With this rare knee condition it is a wonder that Theo was able to play football at all for such a long time ?
Congenital absence of the anterior cruciate ligament occurs in only about two out of 100,000 live births. This causes instability of the knee and can lead to early joint generation, congenital ACL insufficiency or a torn ACL leads to the knee giving out, especially with sports. Traditionally, ACL reconstruction was only done in adults who have finished growing. The ACL is very close to the major growth plates in the knee and they can be damaged during ACL reconstruction. But surgical techniques have advanced greatly since then. Now specialized surgical techniques exist that allow ACL reconstruction in very young children to help stabilize the knee but not interfere or damage the growth centers in the knee.
