Idiots Running British Football
With all the fuss about Bury and Bolton Wanderers, I thought it was time to mention Boreham Wood, who at times gave us some grief on the playing fields. The other week their Chairman berated their fans. He was disappointed that after pouring in his filthy lucre, he was getting little return in support. Yes the club has fine facilities, not for the Supporters though. He has brought in some good players. But did he ever think the thing through? The Club is on the fringes of London, which already has plenty of good Football Teams and even more lack-lustre outfits. What the Hell did he expect? They are in the catchment area for Spurs and Arsenal fans; not too far from Watford and closer to Barnet. Is he expecting to poach some of their fans. No wonder anything outside the top two thirds of the Premier are in potential trouble.

Not sure exactly who is your idiot?
A chairman who wants to increase his fan hase or all clubs out side of top 2/3rds of Premiership
At least he is trying + cares re his club

Re: Idiots Running British Football
There are way too many professional clubs in the EFL/PL etc and for survival amalgamations will be required.
Off the top of my head the following should be in the first wave:
Liverpool/Everton
Spurs/Arsenal
West Ham/Millwall
Charlton/Gillingham
Man Utd/Man City
Salford/Rochdale
Carlisle/Gretna
Berwick/Newcastle
Middlesbro/Sunderland
Bristol Rov/Bristol City
Forest Green/Cheltenham
Torquay/Plymouth/Exeter
MK Dons/Wimbeldon
And so on..

Re: Idiots Running British Football
Most of the filthy lucre poured into Boreham Wood comes from Arsenal, who have effectively bankrolled the pitch and the stadium development for the benefit of their academy and women's team.West Side Story wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:54 am He was disappointed that after pouring in his filthy lucre, he was getting little return in support...

Orient are in a unique position with no near neighbours to amalgamated with. We will fight on alone. Besides the new owners are minted and will bail us out if necessary.RientO wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 3:06 pmWho are Orient going to merge with? Re: Idiots Running British Football
Riento suggest you look up what he actually said:- I quote from the Daily Mail on line "'You can put it down to whatever you like Grant, but there's nothing more that I can do here. I've tried everything and if we're honest with each other, whatever I do or try to do to increase home support nothing seems to works.'
The chairman then suggested he would have to reconsider the size of his investment going forward if attendances did not improve.
'I'm probably just feeling a bit sorry for myself,' he continued. 'But 407 as a gate attendance at our level is laughable.
'So I can't keep making the same excuses to myself about the lack of interest anymore, I can't keep spending on ground improvements and increased first team and staffing levels if nobody wants to come and watch us.I can't keep wasting my money, if the apathy of a town continues and it won't support a club to compete at National League level.'I've increased the playing budget in that time by more than 800 per cent, I've built two brand new stands, we've built a new pitch, added a sprinkler system, we've replaced the old floodlights, we've built 6 new changing rooms, twice rebuilt new astro pitch training facilities, while not forgetting that this town and club went to Wembley in a play off final.
Riento :- Please note the amount of " I've's " in his rant- Suggest you take Danny Hunter to task, not me. As someone once said " don't shoot the messenger "

Inconceivable. Motherwell are a fan owned club and would never amalgamated with anyone. Re: Idiots Running British Football
We nearly merged with Romford many years ago but the team would have become Romford Orient, with the Orient being missed, just Romford. As I recall Romford were OK with this but Leyton Orient weren’t. The ground was Brooklands or whatever. No idea where it was, other than Romford.RientO wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 3:06 pmWho are Orient going to merge with? Dundee and Dundee Utd firms come together when visiting clubs come to town already. Sounds worse than Leytonstone, Ilford, Walthamstow all eventually turning into Dagenham. Not sure why they bother with “and Redbridge", can’t imagine much support for them around here.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 6:44 pmWe nearly merged with Romford many years ago but the team would have become Romford Orient, with the Orient being missed, just Romford. Ask for clarification of who it is you refer to as an idiot, and all you do is start with the personal insults.
You lie when you claim to be ignoring me, and instead launch into personal abuse.
Says far more about you than anything else.
If it's the BW chairman who is an idiot, then what does that make Travis & Teague who have poured more money into Orient each year in the form of their "loans" to covers losses than the W chairman puts into his club.
