Bit strange that neither Ruel or Forde were fit to start the season?east saxon gas wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:49 amForde scored yesterday, and got rave reviews for his overall game. Well Forde is not doing too great at Rovers either. Richie knew how to get the best out of Ruel and Forde but he is not getting a return in goals from Kelman as of yet, same does for O Neil and Dan A this season.
Sotiriou has been used in a similar role, and is match fit now though probably wasn't for the first 5-6 games of the season. He's been industrious, but probably a middling performer to date

maybe something to do with them not being early signings, so not getting a full pre-season? Sotiriou has one goal this season despite playing almost every game
He tends to drop off after getting a new contract though, that seems to be the Ruel with him

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
If we didn’t have enough money to bring in quality players at the start of the season what will have changed that will allow quality players coming in the January window ?
Whilst I can’t thank Travis enough for saving the club, I feel he can’t take us any further and only massive new investors will allow us to bring in the quality players needed to not only get us promoted and be able to sustain life in the Championship.
The talk of a new Stadium in the next 10 years is all well and good but that is far too long to tread water or possibly be relegated. The rise in ticket prices in my opinion is unrealistic and will not be sustainable with the home record many will stop attending, it’s just not value for money now never mind a 10 year wait.

NT has been trying to get new money into the club for some time I believe. He recognises that this is sorely needed. What more do you want him to do?PoundhillO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 1:16 pm If we didn’t have enough money to bring in quality players at the start of the season what will have changed that will allow quality players coming in the January window ?

Get it done or we will stagnate in League1 or at worst be relegated whilst paying ludicrous seat prices for the pleasure.BoniO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 1:53 pmNT has been trying to get new money into the club for some time I believe. If the above happens home gate numbers will fall add to the financial plight of our club.

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
"Get it done" - never liked this phrase even before it became a banner cry for the feckup called Brexit. If NT is struggling to attract new investors then how, exactly, should he make this happen? I think NT knows his business, knows the appetite for investing in UK football over in the US. Are you suggesting he doesn't?PoundhillO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 3:02 pmGet it done or we will stagnate in League1 or at worst be relegated whilst paying ludicrous seat prices for the pleasure.BoniO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 1:53 pmNT has been trying to get new money into the club for some time I believe. I am suggesting that if NT knows his business he clearly hasn’t had the success that is needed and therefore unless he has the success needed the club will stagnate or be relegated, it’s not rocket science.BoniO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 3:49 pm"Get it done" - never liked this phrase even before it became a banner cry for the feckup called Brexit. Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
Thing is that investment seems to be earmarked for an expensive training ground that's 1/3 for the first team and 2/3 for the academy / women's team. Still seeing very little output from the former and the latter now appears partially outsourced.
As an investor would you want to put money into something that doesn't show any immediate effect on the pitch?

Club have said a number of times new investment coming in is completely linked to identifying a site for a new ground. That is going to be a complicated, lengthy process that unfortunately doesn't lend itself to public updates because it will be sensitive work.gshaw wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 4:57 pmThing is that investment seems to be earmarked for an expensive training ground that's 1/3 for the first team and 2/3 for the academy / women's team. The upshot to that could be transformative for the club and is a much bigger deal than being a striker short this season. It'd remove the hard ceiling on growth we currently have, short of lucking out with a benign mega investor who's happy to swallow losses of tens a millions a season whilst we're hemmed into a small capacity stadium that can't be expanded.
Likewise, framing a new training ground as some kind of indulgence feels silly, it's an investment in the next few decades of the club. None of us know how shoddy our current facilities are or what the potential benefit would be to a significant improvement. It's a judgment call being made by people who have achieved success with us so far and know the clubs situation far better than we do (for example, cost of renting vs paying down the borrowing on a site we own, sporting advantage better facilities offer, potential for improving the academy etc).

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
So if and until the club identify a new ground, get the relevant permissions etc we will not be in a position to afford the quality of players needed to get promotion to the Championship and sustain a stay there. Meanwhile the club charge unrealistic prices for home games, home gates drop and we wither on the vine .The next 5 to 10 years looks really exciting (not).Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 6:31 pmClub have said a number of times new investment coming in is completely linked to identifying a site for a new ground. Only one solution, new massive investment now before the rot sets in and we somehow manage to stay in League 1 or get relegated .
