Re: Just Stop Oil
The charge they were found guilty of was criminal damage to the value of less than £5000. The prosecutor said the damage was significantly below that threshold.

This would've been easy enough for you to validate. Maybe you should stop making things up?BoniO wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 3:58 pmJesus Christ - they should have got 30 years! Re: Just Stop Oil
So BoniO asserts zero criminal damage, & you confirm there was. Good workMick McQuaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 4:21 pm The charge they were found guilty of was criminal damage to the value of less than £5000. The prosecutor said the damage was significantly below that threshold.

Just checking:Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 10:01 am I'm no legal* expert but, when I first read the sentences, my initial thought was that this was very much intended to grab the headlines whilst in the knowledge that the sentence would be reduced on appeal. If that turns out to be the case, then it will be an example of the judiciary being overtly political, which would be as bad as the unfairness of the length of the sentences relative to other crimes.
Roger Hallam and his disciples are bunch of f*ckwits. But that makes them an easy and unsympathetic target. As ever in these cases, people should always ask themselves how they'd feel if this happened to people they felt more aligned to.

Being against the political influence behind the severity of the sentences of JSO activists - Are we to apply that principle universally? For example, some of the sentences handed down to people found guilty of incitement through Facebook posts during the riots?
