The Grand Tour: One For The Road

Clarkson, Hammond and May go through the motions, with a drive across Zimbabwe. There's nothing new here (car modifications, crossing a body of water, pretending that they are fixing cars and not the mechanical crew once the cameras stop rolling, forced banter etc). But they do still capture good aspects of the country they are in and show off its incredible scenery.

The trio barely make an effort to disguise the half-arsed attitude to this final. But it's a fitting end to the partnership that, between 2003 and 2015, produced some of the best Sunday evening entertainment you could hope for whilst bracing for the Monday morning return to the grind.

Definitely want to watch this. Did you go cinema or is it available on streaming?

Ep 1 of The Penguin. Looks good, can't get over the fact it's Colin Farrell.

Yep to this. Their best work is at least 10 years back and whilst it was watchable, it was all a bit meh.

Still amazes me how many people in the classic car world think TG / GT is a documentary rather than light entertainment. 🤷‍♂️

New Beetlejuice movie is very good. Never been a massive Tim Burton fan but this is entertaining all the way through.

Catching up with Colin from Accounts - must be a reference on here, but can not wade through all the posts. Blimey those Aussies, they do not play with a filter, do they?

Watching Slow Horses 2nd series/season. To be honest I'm a bit tired of the basic premise after two episodes. But there are some funny bits that make me laugh.

The Delboy/Chaplin/Keatonesque scene where the spyguy is escaping over the rooftops and jumps from a rooftop onto a lower rooftop and goes straight through it made me chuckle. Luckily he landed on some tyres or it could have been worse for him.

Sherwood S1- Thought this was meant to be good? It was pretty mediocre with some laughable moments. Probably overhyped by The Guardian because its about a former mining town.

Had some terrible moments. Haven’t wanted to watch S2 TBH.

Sounds like they would have been in the clear if only they hadnt stated it as true. Is it their fault people uncovered her identity?

What i find a bit odd is this guy has built his career on what appears to be quite a traumatic experience

Interesting.

I think Joker is excellent. I don't care if it's a Taxi Driver rip-off, if it's done really well. And I can give or take all of he Batman films, and am not into these superhero films generally.

Kermode and Mayo both think this sequel is the better of the two films, however it isn't the film fans of the first Joker will want. It's different.
Probably why it's getting mixed reviews.

Usually a good sign of a film if superhero fans are disappointed
