Ratings- Peterborough Home
Encouraging performance, possibly deserved more. Came away quite pleased with that, there’s definitely the underbelly of a decent side starting to click here.
Hemming: 6- Not loads to do. Yes conceded the pen but he was tapping it in if he hadn’t fouled him so no real blame there. Liked the fact he was barking at our defense to get out second half, he’s settling in.
James: 6- Great goal but a few mid placed passes and caught out of position leading to their first. Decent performance.
Happe: 6- Solid, held things together well.
Beckles: 7- Another good performance. You always sense there’s a mistake in there and was worried with our high line and him on a yellow. However stuck to task and a couple of brilliant clearances.
Currie: 8- Huge upgrade on Sweeney, thought he was terrific. Offers a load more going forward and sound defensively as well, good little find.
Brown: 5- Not his best night, gave the ball away a couple of times and rightly hooked.
Clare: 6- Like his agility in the centre of the park but lacks guile and looks a bit clunky. Decent option to have in there.
Galbraith: 8- Would’ve been my MOTM if Kelman hadn’t netted. Unbelievable gut busting performance, covered every blade, and at the heart of our high press that created us so much.
Ageyi: 5- Quiet night by his standards, think they doubled up on him a bit and he struggled to create much. In my opinion he’s far better down the middle.
Kelman: 8- My MOTM. Superb performance, chased everything, scored and offered an outlet all night. Totally different player than we had 2 years ago, RW once again proving he’s an astute judge of a player.
O’Neill: 7- High energy and offered a good outlet. I do miss the O’Neill that would take on his man a bit more though.
Subs:
Ball 6- Was a bit of an upgrade on Brown, looks like a solid player, reminds me of a younger Pratley.
Everyone else: Too late to make much impact although good to see Graham back and took a couple of good corners, where we nearly nicked it through Happe

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
Was a few to many sheets to the wind to offer a considered opinion and full ratings. But appart from a 5 min period in the first half I thought we were far superior.
Just love the energy to this team. We didn’t give them a moments peace from the first whistle. Should have won but the performance is a great consolation.
We do miss the guile and craft of El Miz. Not a lot coming from the centre and not a great deal of composure middle of the park.
But very promising against what is a supposedly a challenging team.
Also keeper seemed sound ( v unlucky with pen decison. Thought their player pulled out and dived.
Also knew James was going to score the monment he cut inside. Very odd feeling. And pure class.

Thought Cooper deserves a mention too as he was excellent when he came on, a change of personnel and shape that really helped us wrest back control of the game after our press dropped off and they'd started playing further up the pitch and putting us under pressure.

This makes beras ratings look accurate. There were no 5s or 6s out there tonight.Jman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 10:24 pm Encouraging performance, possibly deserved more. Came away quite pleased with that, there’s definitely the underbelly of a decent side starting to click here.

Guile and craft were hardly El Mizs strong points. He was a work horse first and foremost.
Both Galbraith and ONeill have far more guile and craft.

Disagree about Brown <> Ball. Noticeable that when Brown went off and Ball came on we conceded possession to Posh. Breaks up play very well. Neither Ball nor Warrington can do what he does and Prats has fallen down the order - so he's got to be doing something right overall. Came off because just like Saturday he's feeling something. Richy is preserving him for Saturday.

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
Brown over Ball for now but you can see Ball is very likely to be forcing himself into the starting lineup very soon. Whether that’s for Brown or Clare, who’s to say. And that also puts pressure on TJ at right back.
Some really nice problems for Richie to have. Other than up top, there’s genuine competition all over the pitch.

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
Brown & Agyei both worth more than a 5
Thought Brown was great, he’s had a recent niggle so I think the substitution was with that in mind.
O’Neill looked good to me
Kelman immense, non stop energy, as was Galbraith.
Think we have the basis of a very good team

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
I think work horse undersells him. He gave us control, stability and tempo. A lot of the central midfield play seemed rushed and imprecise this eve. Maybe we are describing the same thing in different ways.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 11:30 pmGuile and craft were hardly El Mizs strong points. He was a work horse first and foremost.

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
A shame for Obiero that he us now well down the packing order after he started in the first few games.
Unfortunately it is difficult for a young player to make their mark when the Manager brings in experienced players.
Maybe he needs to go on loan?

It’s not experienced players keeping him out of the squad, it’s Warrington and Donley. Zech has been superb all season so it’s really strange he can’t even find a spot on the bench.

He hasn’t been superb. If he had been superb he would be playing. He’s done ok and he’s definitely got potential but I don’t think he deserves to be in front of the others currently. It’s a great problem for RW to have.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:43 amIt’s not experienced players keeping him out of the squad, it’s Warrington and Donley. You don't think he deserves to be ahead of Warrington and Donley? Blimey.

It’s no coincidence that results and performances have improved since Sweeney and Donley have been taken out of the starting line up.

I’m not sure he does. I thought Donley was good against Brentford. He’s unlucky not to be involved but I just don’t think he’s been superb.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 8:53 am You don't think he deserves to be ahead of Warrington and Donley? Blimey.

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
Think playing in this league has been an eye opener for him, it’s more physical less time on the ball and hasn’t got premiership players of quality around him. Can see him going back in the next window unless we get injures?DrWindy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:06 amI’m not sure he does. I thought Donley was good against Brentford. I think Zek was the standout for us in those first few games.

Why? I like Zech but I can’t think of anything special he’s done. I recall him hitting the bar, and working hard for the team but I just don’t think you can define his performances to date as superb.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:22 amAnd Warrington?DrWindy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:06 amI’m not sure he does. I agree Warrington has done little but I liked the look of him against Brentford.
RW was saying he wanted more experience and that has been filled by Ball and Currie who I think have both been good to date.
Sweeney and Zech have come down the pecking order since but personally I don’t think either have done much to consider themselves hard done by.

Thought I'd have a look back at the ratings threads for the first few games. There's nothing but praise for Zek in there. Other than from your good self. I didn't realise you'd already spoken out against Obeiro. Bit weird, to be honest.

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
I think if you define those performances as superb then either you’re setting the bar too low or are being disingenuous. There have been some superb performances from some players this season but I don’t think Obiero is one of them. It of course matters not what I think but I would suggest that the fact he’s not currently in the squad would suggest RW doesn’t agree with you either.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 11:06 am viewtopic.php?t=14257&hilit=ratings+bolton

Re: Ratings- Peterborough Home
So we're now arguing over the definition of 'superb'? I think he's generally been putting in consistent 7/10 performances. Maybe I should refer to that as very good, not superb. But the point remains, his performances were enough to keep him in the side IMO. The only reason to do so would have been managing his time as a young kid but he wasn't showing signs of needing that.
I wasn't the only one praising him. You were the only one with negative things to say about the kid.
I'm aware of Richies decision - I just don't understand it based on the performances I've seen so far, from Zek and Warrington. But obviously we don't get to see them on a daily basis in training.
But yep, it's a good position to be in.

Obiero is good and will come through. The midfield has improved since Clare has gone in there. I don’t think many would disagree. In a few more weeks his opportunity will come. He needs to be ready and take it. It’s a long season.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 11:54 am So we're now arguing over the definition of 'superb'?
