Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
Didn't catch the game but a fantastic result to build on last week and the Board is absolutely dead as a doornail. If we'd have been pumped, it'd be heaving with the same rehashed threads on Ling, Travis et al being tight and none of our new signings being up to it. People on here genuinely don't seem to like us doing well.

I think it’s a minority on here TBH who are straight on here after a home defeat moaning……..I didn’t catch the game but this is a fantastic result against a team who apparently have won their last 7 at home.
I thought we played well At Brentford and were a bit unlucky but anyway, great result today, well done

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
We are at last proving our mid table credentials.
I have reached the stage where I now have trust in Jordan Brown.
Currie needs to improve defensively but I'm sure he will.
Ollie Oneal needs to show us a little bit of what we saw last season.
Beckles, immense today.
Galbraith, just get that contract extension signed.
Although, Clare got done for their goal, he is looking better.
In a massively hard working Wellens team, why does James sometimes look lazy?
Agyei and the new look Kelmen are decent for our modest budget and clearly better than these loan "stars" of the future.

Mid table?
Hemking/Keeley still need to prove themselves but otherwise, we’re 1 striker away from being promotion contenders.
Obeiro/Simpson/DJ /Sweeney all sitting out of the squad shows how strong we are.

Genuine question: would you say the squad is stronger this season than last year?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:19 pm Mid table?

I’m not convinced it is, but if you believe we’re that close to being promotion contenders presumably you do.
I’d say it’s a much stronger league this year too.

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
Before anyone gets too giddy with a good win today.
We've lost 4 and won 2.
Of the 4 We've lost 1 was against 2nd from bottom and one was from 7th from bottom.
I know it's early but it is an indication of where the teams we've faced are at at right now.
To achieve better than mid table, we need to find teams out and punish them, like we did today.
Next two games will tell us a lot more, and personally I'm optimistic.

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
Don't really agree on that one, imo it shows that we've finally got the squad we needed at the start of the season. Sweeney and Obiero in an otherwise young squad was too much inexperience (and imo the former isn't ready for L1 and has been a weak spot until Currie arrived)Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:19 pm Obeiro/Simpson/DJ /Sweeney all sitting out of the squad shows how strong we are.
CB yes we do have the luxury of choice there and it's the one area we had sorted very early in the window.
DJ / Perkins, don't think many on here would have the latter in the squad so bit of a mystery there, unless fitness is the limiting factor.
Are we stronger than last year? Not really, upfront still looks very fragile if Agyei is unavailable and midfield is currently being looked after by our RB.
The good news is with the Currie and Ball signings we look more competitive and a bit more nous in the side as evidenced by recent results.

Much more interesting to lose as we can all then play at how to fix things

Just my opinion, but I think the opening post is nonsense.
No Orient supporter prefers to lose, that's a ridiculous thing to say
When we lose supporters are normally upset and angry and they come on here to vent their feelings.
To reiterate, it's absolute nonsense to suggest real Orient supporters prefer to lose , utter tosh

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
I agree that - other than a striker and with the keepers still to prove themselves - the squad is now as it should be. If we had to wait a couple of weeks to secure players of the quality of Ball and Currie, so be it.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:40 pmDon't really agree on that one, imo it shows that we've finally got the squad we needed at the start of the season. Highlights are up

To be stronger than last year it'd need a few more senior pros competing in certain areas. Hopefully now got enough for mid-table safety though.

Only in as much as would any of those out the squad keep us at the same level if they have to become a starter? Simpson aside I'd say not.

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
We added ONeill and Simpson later last season. Galbraith is only just showing us how good he is. The likes of Brown and Happe are a season older and wiser, continuing their upward trajectories. Obeiro has forced his way into the first team squad and will be a big player this season. All this seasons new additions - Kelman/Clare plus more recently Currie/Ball have been improvements on what we had.The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:24 pmGenuine question: would you say the squad is stronger this season than last year?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:19 pm Mid table?

Overall, despite the loss of ElMiz, I’d say yeah, we are.

You need to read this Board more closely. There are several already missing in action tonight because we won and it is a regular thing.Qin wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:44 pm Just my opinion, but I think the opening post is nonsense.

I think the use of this board, much like social media, is inversely proportional to happiness.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:26 pm Didn't catch the game but a fantastic result to build on last week and the Board is absolutely dead as a doornail. Having said that, there's definitely boarders that could win a million and be disappointed it wasn't 10.

Re: Such a shame people prefer it when we lose
Without Mizouni, it's hard to say we have a stronger first 11 than last season, but I think we have a better squad. We have decent options in every position except much in the number 9 position, so we should be more adaptable and less vulnerable to injuries. Broadly optimistic about how we'll do, Stockport were one of those promoted teams people were fretting about bypassing us and we've smashed them.

It takes very little intellect to say something negative- and they will be back with a vengeance at the hint of a down-turn. Read into that what you will.
