Should the FA ….?
Press speculation abounds as to whether an England Manager should / must sing the National Anthem?

Re: Should the FA ….?
Surely one of the benefits of living in a civilised and democratic country is that citizens are free to decide whether they want to do something like singing a national anthem or not without fear of persecution.
Forced patriotism is both pointless and dangerous.

I have never supported the idea of having a royal family. I find it morally wrong and ancient. I never sing the anthem and when I was watching Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Stadium, I sat down in the safe standing area, when asked to stand and sing on the day Charles was crowned.

Re: Should the FA ….?
Some English players don’t sing the anthem, what you going to do sack them too?
Personally even as a fan I sing the anthem loud and proud, but as individuals we are all different, you cannot force any person to sing if they don’t want to.
Stupid thread

Payback for Irish fans having flags with Rice n Grealish being snakes and booing so loud we couldn't hear the English National Anthem.

Re: Should the FA ….?
Just found out about his none singing. Yep get rid but even worse he’s no better than Southgate and that’s saying something
Re: Should the FA ….?
He will soon be hounded out by Joe public and the likes of the Daily Mail.
And they still won't be satisfied and before long like 6 months the next Manager will not do something wrong like not bowing down to Nigel Farage or something
else and he will be hounded out as well.
Lee Carsley has actually won something the European Under 21 Championship in 2023 which is why he is interim Manager.

So did Southgate and he went on to win, now let me thinkbugger all. The FA will give it to him because he’s cheap and available plus a yes man. I think infact I’m sure he will win, now let me think yep bugger all.whittle76 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 10:03 pm He will soon be hounded out by Joe public and the likes of the Daily Mail.

Re: Should the FA ….?
Ridiculous thread. Do not know whether other national managers sing, and not bothered if they do or don’t. A good start to his tenure, players seemed to express themselves football-wise.
Re: Should the FA ….?
Lee Carsley has already won a tournament last year the under 21's European Championship winning 1-0 in the Final against Spain.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:17 pmSo did Southgate and he went on to win, now let me thinkbugger all. Carsley will win nothing,if I were the FA I’d get onto Jürgen Klopp offering the best deal ever . He’s a winner he’s a very good coach and he understands English and the English game. And he still available as far as I knowwhittle76 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:53 amOk your the expert.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:17 pm

Re: Should the FA ….?
Tricky one.
I’m loyal & proud to be in English/ British; I am not instinctively a monarchist; yet I accept our system of democracy is much better than many countries have and gives stability; most royals at the top of the tree are hard-working and I wouldn’t want their job. I don’t sing the national anthem, personal choice, but it doesn’t make me any less English in spirit, and the same could be said for English republicans.
However, football as in other fields, choose to make something of the national anthem, and as the leader of our football team, as with the Prime Minister and many other top roles, if you want the job then I would suggest singing the anthem at appropriate times goes with the territory in being the leading representative of one’s country.
