Is it wellens fault?

Post by Adz »

He's changed the tactics in the league from last season to try and get 2 centre forwards in, removing width from the team with a diamond and we've been pretty poor. In the cup he's played more similar to last season with greater success.

I think it's either Wellens, or Ling, or the Board, or the players, or some combination of all of 'em.

Time will tell. You can’t say oh this has or hasn’t worked after 4 games.

That said, the emerging theme is that we haven’t actually got a CF to complement the system. When Kelman plays wide he looks dangerous but ageyi looks wasted and when ageyi plays wide he looks good but Kelman looks useless.

He asked for experienced pros
He got a bunch of youths on loan
You decide who's at fault for that

Here’s a thought. It’s nobody’s fault.

It’s just that our owners aren’t minted enough.

Wellens is the Manager so buck should stop with him. The owners are not going to throw money at something that has very little assets as Hearn stripped the Club and still owns everything. Ling is pulling Wellen’s strings, Wellens will be taking his wages but cannot perform miracles with the limitations imposed.

They need to work harder. L1 (Div 3) doesn't owe them a living.

Wellens has had multiple interviews saying he is involved in all transfers and Marshall Taylor on Twitter said that no signings come in without Richie’s sign off.

Obviously he’d have experienced pros but he signed a new contract knowing the budget restrictions.
I’m no Ling fan and think we’d be better off with someone more competent in that job but because everyone loves Richie it doesn’t mean he should swerve any responsibility .

We have two experienced wingers out injured. I dont know what the formation is but we've played well in the home games but poorly away.

It’s not Wellens,he’s wanted a right winger, did he get one, no he didn’t. He wanted a left back, did he get one, he got a loanie last day of the window, who the f—k scouted this keeper? Why was Kelman brought in when in the last window he wasn’t Wellens choice? He wanted two other players. In short Ling and board are to blame. Personally I think this is as far as we go as a club. It’s just the way it is.🤷‍♀️

Wellens doesn’t stop banging on about how he loves Kelman. No doubt part of being pissed off last window was that we missed Kelman and got two kids

Nope when asked on a podcast if Kelman was one of the players he wanted in the January window he said”no”

It's very much a similar discussion to KJ, does the manager get to sign off on the eventual players... probably

Does he get anywhere near his first, second or even third choice before having to end up with a cheap kid on loan... probably not

It's like saying Richie signed off the two loan kids in January and they were his choice, in his own words he was offered them or nothing.

Have a look at the thread I put up yesterday "Value for money", how does so many pros leave get we can't replace them like for like even with a supposed 10% increase?

As you've referred to Richie talks about needing experience but then there's also the "we" chose to go for young loan players rather than L1/L2 pros... hmmm...

And that means he didn’t want him/doesn’t want him?

Even though he has numerous times thats he’s a quality player and has literally changed our formation to get him in the team? Ok

It’s Richie’s words not mine.
If he didn’t like it he didn’t have to sign a new contract or could have negotiated stipulations into his contract as to how players are brought in.

We can’t just say he’s not being backed and absorb him of all blame when he’s clearly involved in the process.

There is an argument to be made that he'd had the discussions of what he wanted done differently and signed in good faith expecting it to be done as he'd asked.

Alternatively he's been told it's a bunch of kids coming but took a big pay rise to make up for it, the club is so secretive on these kinds of matters it's hard to tell, we've only got the "exciting players are cunning" soundbite to go off and that was basically marketing speak to sell STs

One thing that's been common during this window and last, he's quoted saying he's after ABC players / positions but ends up with XYZ instead, all very strange

Can't blame the board for everything, yesterday was dire, the next 10 games or so will be key now, there is no excuse to not get results against the weaker teams

He’s going to say that, he’s changed our formation to push Galbraith into a more attacking position in midfield. Now as I’ve said many times so will say it yet again so you can understand Kelman is no CF,wide player maybe? Plus he was a cheap option. Wigan didn’t want him nor do QPR and if we had the sense we should have looked round for a decent free striker at the start of the window.ok

100% not Richie's fault . He's a very good manager and deserves better than the dross he's been handed . The blame lay's firmly at the feet of the board for not backing him . All we've done this Summer is "cheap out" and now we're paying for it on the pitch .

Board, Ling, RW, players and us all to blame. There is a case for all. In case you are wondering, our fans don't sing enough at home...
