I'd have thought that this level of bitterness would have been to your liking, Max:

If I was considering getting tickets for this, I’d definitely go for one of the earlier shows, just to be safe.

It's got to be worth a punt.

You think Oasis are concerned they’re not going to sell out?

Dearie me.
I think it’s a pretty fair communication aimed at the fans who are seeing Glastonbury as a back up option. There’s no way these gigs won’t sell out within a couple of hours

I don’t think they are concerned but bands and artists do this every year. They wait until their own shows have sold out before announcing festivals having previously denied they are playing

For what it’s worth I don’t think the timing works for glasto, but they would be a perfect fit

Glastonbury doesn't pay enough to justify it. It's only really worth playing there for wider audience capture, which Oasis doesn't need. Or if you're Coldplay.

"In 2021, he appeared on the front page of the Sun calling Prince Harry an “effin’ woke snowflake”, and in 2024 complained about Glastonbury becoming too “woke”. (Hint: when anyone uses the word “woke” as an insult, they’re immediately emblazoning another word across their own forehead, which also begins with a “w”.)"

That reads like really sh*t boardin'.

"I’ll never forget being present at the Q Awards in 2000, when Liam Gallagher repeatedly heckled Robbie Williams with “Queer!” and Kylie Minogue with “Lesbian!” as the assembled music business and media tittered nervously, reluctant to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. It’s one of the ugliest scenes I’ve ever witnessed."

Good grief. I'm certainly not condoning Liam's behaviour, but if this is true then the writer has led a very sheltered life.

Simon Price has good takes on some things, but very bad on others. The oasis rant here is just a big sulk. He’s right about oasis not being the *only* voice of the working class, but they became popular by being popular and resonating with people.
Just don’t go.

Also, being rough and ready, insulting, uncouth, rude, loud,.sweary etc is what bands and rock/pop stars are supposed to do.

After walking on stage, if he was to announce "Hi, I'm Liam, my pronouns are they/them and I acknowledge my white privilege", it would hardly have been rock'n'roll.

Always been agnostic about them but the media hype is a tad overkill now. Radio X also playing them far more than usual today. Getting a little old already.

It’s seeing even more media exposure than the first Pistols reunion in 1996. However, that Finsbury Park gig lives long in the memory and was something to write home about. Absolutely incredible.

He’s wrong about their music. I’ve not listened to them in forever but i loved their first 2 albums. Those songs - and others from that era that didn’t even make the albums - totally stand the test of time.

But he’s right that they’re a pair of c*nts. And the audience that attends these gigs will also be full of c*nts.

I have a recollection of them having another brother, him being interviewed on something like Big Breakfast or a Chris Evans show. He looked and talked like them but was fat and round, wearing some daft jumper that made him look like a womble. And despite having no discernible talent, was an even bigger arrogant c*nt than the pair of them.

This was th 90s tho, so may not have actually happened.
