DJ's assist last night was pretty well worked and players tend to take a while to get up to speed in Wellens system. Showed something about him that suggests he might be alright as 4th/5th choice winger who can bring something off the bench.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:01 pm Anyway, thought we were really good tonight. Warrington was great, as was Cooper, Sweeney did well too. Agyei was superb and Beckles was magnificent. Perkins has a great touch but needs to bulk up considerably, Jaiyesemi didn't do much to put himself in mind for a starting spot and sort of backs up RW's moans about the state of our bench. And pleased for Hemming that he had absolutely nothing to do.
Millwall were absolutely dogsh!t though, whether they changed their XI around a lot or not. Risible performance.

I thought that was a good comment, well done !Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:01 pm Anyway, thought we were really good tonight. Warrington was great, as was Cooper, Sweeney did well too. Glad to hear that Warrington played well and agree about Perkins needing to bulk up, he also needs to find his shooting boots, down to confidence has a lot to do with it, he especially needs coaching on his options when in one to one situations with just goalie to beat, learn to chip the keeper for just one option. Disappointing that Hemmings was not tested out more, so we are still in the dark as to if he can become a good option as Os first choice keeper for the rest of the season, evidence so far has not been at all positive.

A good win, good performance and some valuable minutes for some of the players.
Unfortunately we are no further nearer knowing if Hemming will make it or not, but the game must surely have helped his confidence. It looks like we are going to persevere with him, let’s hope that is the correct decision. Otherwise once the deadline closes we would have to look at out of contract goalies. Not sure when the loan market opens again.

Re: Hemming starts v Millwall (exiles thread)
Was happy to see Hemmings make a couple of catches at least in the highlights.
I still have a lot of reservation and it scares me as elsewhere we are looking nice.
Cracking set of CB'S and the thought of Kelman (looking good) and Agyei feeding from (eventually) O'Neill, Theo and Graham with Richie at the helm.....it's nice.
But not if you have to counter for a mistake-ridden goalie. Or Howes who doesn't seem up to no.1 spot.
Grrr

Make it a top priority to sign a decent full time keeper, also a good backup keeper, perhaps even one of our own promising young keepers might be up to the job ?

Hemming still scares me but I’m happy to go with Richie’s judgment.idontkn0 M wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:59 am Was happy to see Hemmings make a couple of catches at least in the highlights.
