Aside from anything else, Oasis have absolutely no track record of splitting regularly and cancelling tours. At their most volatile, the most that happened was Liam storming out, with the show going on with Noel on vocals.
The one split lasted 15 years.
Noel, whatever you think of his songwriting, is a consummate pro, and will have taken this on in the knowledge that it means having to get through (at least) 14 dates with Liam. I would imagine he’ll definitely be saying to himself “just eight more gigs…” and thinking of the money, but neither of them are walking out of this.

Yeah, among the young this is basically an equivalent to a Beatles tour being announced in 95.
It’s funny to think that in the 90s plenty said that nobody would be listening to Oasis in 30 years

Only £3 more than the Royal Blood 10th anniversary reissue.

Bookmarking this for 2044 when Royal Blood smash out 10 nights at Wembley 3.0 and I'm left with scrambled tofu on my face.

It’s on like Donkey Kong. I’m going. As Dunners alluded to though, the crowd is going to be interesting. Mid 50’s and gurning away isn’t a good look.

From that era, two bands that have reunited and since put out better material than in their 90s heyday are Suede and Ride. Both have a far better body of work that Oasis and are still releasing decent new albums today. They are both also awesome live - especially Suede who have totally transformed since their foppish 92-era.

Obviously, I still wish I had been young enough to see them both live in the 90s.

Also, special mention to Manchester stalwarts, James. They too disbanded around the turn of the millennium, only to reunite a few years later and have since put out back to back albums and toured pretty much constantly.

Blur's last album was up there with their best imo. But a lot of their 90s stuff has aged like milk and Albarn's voice live is awful, as great as their occasional reunions have been.

Moving on to my campaign for a Verve reunion now, given the band’s hatred for Ashcroft it may require some bad investment advice and a few bankruptcies first :(

Blur’s less good stuff was crap on release day, let alone decades on.
I don’t know if there’s another band with the same gulf between their most popular crap, and the much more interesting stuff on albums and less big singles.

Parklife, Country House, Stereotypes and Charmless Man all awful, but at the same era, there was stuff like Badhead, This is a Low, End Of A Century, Best Days, Fade Away, He Thought Of Cars, Tracy Jacks that all still stand up today

Radiohead with Creep and James with Sit Down?

As a bit of a neutral who can appreciate some of Blur's stuff, but also as a total music snob, I personally don't get the derision that Parklife and Girls & Boys often receive. Both are well crafted pop singles that achieved crossover commercial success. I agree that Country House and Charmless Man are awful though.

Creep and Sit Down aren’t crap, just not representative. Blur seemed to cynically dumb down for the biggest hits.

Graham Coxon describes it as there was a high street version of blur that he hated being in, but then there were these little weird corners and back streets where the interesting stuff happened

Dawning realisation that for most of this week every radio station’s going to wheeling out the musical crime that is wonderwall.

Bollocks.

My other half has already had enough, she’s given me an ultimatum. Stop talking about the reunion or she’s off.

“So will you shut up about it!?” She asked
