Re: Ask Nigel a question
He had a bit of a Ratner moment re: the Sky deal and I wonder if he looked back on it the next day thinking he could've handled it better. Telling your most loyal away-day travelling fans they're inflexible and the US knows best isn't a good lookPoundhillO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:03 pmWho gives a monkeys about what they do in America, this is not America it’s England .He needs to get his head out of his backside.
There also seems to be some discrepancy over the income figure that was given from the deal (£300k I recall mentioned multiple times) as NT was saying it's more than that, though I didn't hear him specify a figure.

This completely. People who are criticising a lack of spending and the quality of the players cannot have been a supporter for very long. This is one of the most talented squads we have had in a long time. It’s not all about spending money. Remember what happened last time we did that. Stop complaining , support the team and the owners , or move across to the Olympic park and join the other whiners.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:30 am We've played 3 of the biggest clubs at this level and been edged out of each game by keeper errors. That suggests a problem of fine margins and that we may have fluffed recruitment in that position - which is always a risk in football. Think you can fairly criticize the recruitment of certain players after more than a handful of games, but seeing a difficult start in our second season up in a division as proof that we have some massive structural problem and need to be losing 5-6m a year instead of the current 3-4, is massively reactionary.
Still think the basic set up remains positive, we have a fantastic manager, a core of very good players who will continue to improve and owners who are thinking about what sustainable growth looks like, rather than a reckless dash for the championship where they know they can't afford the scale of losses we'd currently need to make.
If you read the Brum forum, their fans are saying we're the best team we've played in an admittedly very short season so far. People need to keep a sense of perspective.

Re: Ask Nigel a question
At last someone speaks for the majority. Aside from our GK who has yet to prove himself (not helped the very heavy criticism of him on the message board) we have a vg squadGeorge M wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:51 pmThis completely. If you can’t say anything positive why do you profess to be O’s supporters? All clubs are NOT equal and we have to live within our means and the generosity of our owners. A 50% increase of ticket prices would give RW reasonable funds for improvement but would you agree to such an increase? Just accept the fact we are constrained by the size of Brisbane Road and the wealth and generosity of our owners.
However Bournemouth stadium is only 12,000 and the Cherries manage. We have several excellent players, who cost us nothing, but will at at some stage be sold to create money. It’s about time some supporters accepted the reality of the situation. After all there is an alternative just one stop away on the central line.

Re: Ask Nigel a question
People who cite Bournemouth, Brentford or Brighton always overlook the huge amount of cash that was ploughed in by their owners, the latter two being owned by number whizz lifelong fans willing to take on the risk of building big new stadiums to make the clubs financially self sufficient. Meanwhile, you have loads of clubs who've splurged huge amounts and gotten nowhere cause their owners have been idiots. We were one of those clubs.
Luton and Blackpool are exceptions and these were exceptional for a reason.
I'd really rather we tread water for a while whilst we put together a proper long term plan that brings in the right people to fund the right type of stadium in the right location.

Re: Ask Nigel a question
What else is he going to say? He doesn't pick the players and can't sh*t on them. He got dogs abuse for saying Ethan Coleman would be one of our greatest ever signings and was gone within 6 months after mid quality football.idontkn0 M wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:54 pmPlease nogshaw wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:45 pmIt was and Nigel's response was "he'll be fine"idontkn0 M wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:27 pm Sorry, was no f**kin goalkeeper question asked????
