Define Marquee signing for Leyton Orient?Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:51 pm Asking people to pay nearly twice as much for a ticket as they were paying two seasons ago, when we haven't really made a single marquee signing this summer to indicate we're going for anything other than a solid mid table finish (which is fine), is a tough sell really.

Re: Low gate (not tickets sold) on Saturday
I'm not particularly grumbling about the signings (yet), but we've made three permanent signings this summer, two of whom are players deemed not good enough by teams that finished below us in the league. The rest are kids on loan with varying levels of experience.
Id say Galbraith or Agyei from last summer are the types of player that raise expectations - players who demonstrated they were too good for the level below and who's clubs were gutted to lose them.
The core of the squad that finished last season was plenty good enough so we didn't need an overhaul imo, but the balancing of messaging and price rises, vs what we've actually done, hasn't been as effective as it should have been is all.
I'm more worried about Wellens messing around with tactics that worked perfectly well last year really, especially as our squad is built for 4-3-3, but he knows what he's doing.

So it's not about marquee signings, it's about not
going 4-3-3, 2 of the 4-3-3 from last season to start with were Theo & Graham, Then there was Shaq & Idris.
None were available for our 1st 2 games.

Think you’re right, JES………As a Gallery STH, I got an email this week re the Birmingham game and the add on for a meal is £60 now and this was around £35-40 a year or two back. The game and the restaurant should be SOLD OUT……..I think the club have mis-judged what fans can afford and I think we’ll see special offers before long.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:28 pmStill a chance. Once the club realised they had overpriced matchday dining last season there were all sorts of special offers 3 for 2 and BOGOFFS and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again with matchday tickets. Devlin IMHO is out of touch with what the supporters can/can't afford. We should free up the whole or at least 2/3rds of the East stand to away fans if we want to sell out on occasion this season.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:22 amYou'd hope so but it's pretty rare to see prices come down. Once they've been raised, you're unlikely to see a climb down, even if they acknowledge they've got the pricing wrong.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:20 am I can see why the club chanced it with these prices as we were near capacity most of last season, but reality is Birmingham City aren't exactly a fallen giant. Most of my lifetime they've been a middling championship club who had a decent few years in the prem. The idea that they are such a name that your casual match goer is going to fork out 32 quid for it is obviously ridiculous.
Appreciate that the club has a difficult balancing act between generating the revenue they need to push on at this level and keeping things accessible to the non hardcore, but gouging people is going to undo a lot of the good work they've done in increasing attendances and creating a positive vibe around the club. The prices they are charging across the board are the first serious missteps they've made imo and hopefully prompts a rethink next year.
I sense a bit of discontent with the fans this season over the way things are being done and a perceived lack of ambition on the playing side with lack of support for RW and only four permanent signings and four loans so far.
I can see us giving away clubs bigger allocations to fill the East Stand.

I’m sure the season ticket holders in the east stand who have to give up their seats to some yobbo away supporter would love that…Cheshunto wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:11 pmThink you’re right, JES………As a Gallery STH, I got an email this week re the Birmingham game and the add on for a meal is £60 now and this was around £35-40 a year or two back. Re: Low gate (not tickets sold) on Saturday
Yes I agree it’s not ideal, but it’s revenue for the club and if our fans don’t buy the tickets then is it better to leave them empty ?? Maybe reduce the price for those East Stand STHs affected to compensate them. The Reverend wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 6:11 pmI’m sure the season ticket holders in the east stand who have to give up their seats to some yobbo away supporter would love that…Cheshunto wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:11 pmThink you’re right, JES………As a Gallery STH, I got an email this week re the Birmingham game and the add on for a meal is £60 now and this was around £35-40 a year or two back. Re: Low gate (not tickets sold) on Saturday
It's still summer holiday time and the East Stand probably has an extra 250 seats. Assuming we are competitive I think we will sell out later on in the season.
