Re: MONCS GONE!
I wouldn't be shocked if he is even lower in two years, he is only 31 but can barely last 60 minutes and he isn't getting any younger
In real terms he should be utterly class in the conference
Moncur done the job he was paid to do, come in get the team up and survive, obviously great in the dressing room and popular. I always expected him to score more non-penalty goals though
That now means a signing is incoming with the wages off the books well some of them

Re: MONCS GONE!
Did the job we needed in League 2, that vital goal against Wimbledon at home was worth the fee alone.
Sadly the fitness issues prevent him from contributing in this league, should do the job for Southend though

Re: MONCS GONE!
Great if free's up some funds for Richie.
A great signing for Southend - wonder if he makes their squad tonight?
What a strange drop for Moncs though. Get promoted up and then drop down to lower. Am sure he is happy to stay local and probably has aspirations as making the Lord's message more his work gradually. On the latter, nothing but the best to him .

Re: MONCS GONE!
Probably has his sights on getting and keeping fit then see what next Summer brings. It’s a chance to remind people what he’s capable of. I wish George luck there .idontkn0 M wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 1:10 pm Great if free's up some funds for Richie.

Re: MONCS GONE!
He was good when we got promoted but after that he went totally down hill, at least that frees up some cash to bring in quality player/s that are league 1 and above ready to go.

Re: MONCS GONE!
The guy is physically spent. I'm not even sure dropping down to national league will be enough for him to warrant getting picked. Not being able to run for 45 minutes is the same problem at whatever level you're at, he'd need to have the entire team based around covering for him and be consistently on it with the ball, which to be honest, he rarely was for us even when fit.
We're probably still paying a big chunk of his wages so doubt it'll be a game changer for the last signing or 2.

"Straight into the squad v Boston United tonight!"
For all he's been rightly criticised, that's a sad sentence to read.

Re: MONCS GONE!
Good luck to him. Clearly finished at Orient and League 1 level in general.
He might get a couple more seasons at conference level before packing it in.
Nice to see that he’s secured a move which will mean that he doesn’t have to relocate. He’s a big family man and that no doubt played a large part in the decision of which club to go to.
The loan element of this makes it unclear exactly how much budget this has freed up.

Re: MONCS GONE!
You'd have to hope that the fact that Southend have new owners who presumably are looking to spend big and get them out of the national league means that it's not just a token amount. Wellens basically froze him out so our negotiating position was not strong.

Re: MONCS GONE!
Loan or straight transfer, it probably doesn’t make any real difference to us financially as a ‘straight transfer’ can include terms which mean we effectively pay some of GM’s wages. The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 1:30 pm Good luck to him. Still, given Orient didn’t sanction an earlier loan deal, this deal sounds like a satisfactory result for all parties.

Re: MONCS GONE!
Whatever the percentage, any savings will go towards bringing in another CM . He needs to be experienced and ready to go . Hopefully not another youngster . Nothing against signing youngsters but we already have enough of them . Now we need experience
