That's "industrial chic", if you please. And that loaf is sourdough.

The people who don’t want Gails are the same people who were born and raised in the home counties, set up home in Walthamstow with their parents’ money. f*** the lot of them, get Gail’s in the village asap.

I’m a proper sucker for a twee, nice interior, £4 a flat white coffee shops.

It’s the only area of my taste I’m snobbish about/ashamed of

Although Gail’s is pricey and disappointing. Everything looks great but tastes average

Gails is an overpriced abomination of a bakery. I still miss Percy Ingles and Sprays who specialised in rock hard cheese rolls and cakes which came with obligatory flies included.

And don't even start me on Greggs.

The food and drink options in the village are a bit crap really. The Castle is decent, but otherwise it's all massively overpriced and bang average.

Froth & rind was decent (though should’ve used better bread) but that’s sadly gone

The two manageresses later denied making these statements, but the CRE still issued the bakery with a non-discrimination notice. This notice required the company to respect Section 28 of the Race Relations Act and ensure their recruitment procedures were fair. The notice also asked the bakery to ‘inform their employees about the Race Relations Act’, and to ‘change their procedures’ in order to ‘encourage black applicants’.
Instead of accepting the findings of the Commission, in August 1980, Percy Ingle Ltd. appealed against the notice at a Tribunal. Among other things, they argued that even if discriminatory practices were in place, no victim could be found. Although the CRE dismissed this argument as ‘manifest nonsense’, the judges on the Tribunal ‘considered themselves bound’ by a precedent set in an earlier case.

Giving it a go now. Everything looks good but they could do with mixing the sandwich offerings up a bit

Cashew cheese? Not really cheese though is it? Presumably just some nutty paste or something. Sounds horrible

Mays The Bakers, loads of their shops around when I was a kid in Leyton.
Our local one was on the corner of Park Road and Lea Hall Gardens.

It’s better for the environment though than industrial dairy industry cheese

I like to feel like I’m alleviating the genocidal climate crisis when I’m eating my £7 craft single batch sourdough focaccia.

I hope you check with whatever establishment you're eating in that none of the ingredients come from Israel.

Would you like to buy some chocolate I'm making from recycled cardboard?

As long the cardboard is from a single source recycling plant and certified genocide free then I’m happy to support a small independent business.
