Ling will be sweating now. Anymore mistakes and he must get someone better before the window shuts.
It's too late . Our keeper this season will be either Hemming or Howes . On yesterday's showing Howes is the better keeper .
I would have thought that we could still send Hemming back before the end of the month or before the transfer window closes
God knows what Richie will do for Tuesday as far as our ‘keeper is concerned.
Hemming needs to get yesterday out of his system and try and show us that he is a decent ‘keeper.

Would prefer that we got Hemming out of our system.

Do people know for a fact that Ling picks the players to actually sign? It's up to Richie when all is said and done...if Richie doesn't want his he wont take him.
Didn't Wellens say last season before Brynn signed
I leave the goalkeepers to Roycie , if he's happy that will do me.

You could tell from the off Saturday that he wasn’t up to it certainly not that game anyway. It may of been a blip however his command of the box, positioning and handling were poor to say the least,we don’t know about his shot stopping, he never got the opportunity.however it maybe a one off and I would play him Tuesday, if only to get his confidence up. As for Sweeney unfortunately the lad try’s very hard but he’s just not good enough and never has been. We desperately need a LB and a decent CF. Kelman can play out wide but when moved into the middle he just can’t hack it imo.

With James on the bench it makes the signing of a right back over a left back all the more odd.
I thought Sweeney was good for the first hour. Made some good blocks, tackles and headers.
He looks good to me when the ball is in front of him. He looks vulnerable to me when the ball is played behind him and/or he comes up against a decent player with the ball at his feet.
TJ is probably not as athletic as Sweeney but is rarely beaten by his opponent and is much more capable with the ball in my mind.

In the highlights he gifted them a chance that was horrifically missed by their centre forward.

Agree, personally would have put James before Sweeney even though he’s a right back plus still not sure of the lad from Wigan? First half he gifted them a chance by playing it across our pen box using his weaker foot.

Yes, he got away with it that time but ball was put behind him. As I say, he was solid first hour. To be fair the lad that came on looked tasty.
No that was bad defending, got caught and was muscled out when he should have put the ball out. Trouble with Sweeney is he alway looks for the back pass, doesn’t run forward into space for attacking options.

When he could have simply played the ball off for a throw in.

I am not a fan of this modern preoccupation of trying to play possession football at all costs when under pressure in your own defensive areas.

We paid 100k for Mervin Day in 1979. I wonder what that is now in today's money and how on earth could we afford it on the crowds we got then
Reaching the FA cup semi final in '78 would have helped

If I recall correctly we sold Tony Grealish to Luton for £150k only a couple of weeks after we got Day so that probably was an even bigger help.
He’s had a very quiet night as Newport have not been much of a threat. That was probably their first real attempt and he cocked up badly, again. Not looking good for him at all.

I think my 8 year old grandson could have saved that. Just to mention as well that the marking was atrocious.
Surprised Howes didn’t start tbh, would like to think that Wellens will start him Saturday instead now. You know what your getting with him, with Hemming he might make a save, he might not but probably won’t
