Coincidentally another 1-2 defeat. Come back Shwan, on reflection you weren't that bad

Can’t remember the players name or date but it was within the first few years of this century or the late 90s. A forward we had on loan from Watford who got a straight red early in the second half. Never played for the Os again.

And a full back with surname Smith who Jimmy Bloomfield, in his second spell with us, gave a debut to for a Boxing Day home match vs West Ham.

Re: Worst ever debut?
Think the correct order was
Fitzgerald 1st - simply awful for 75 mins, got sent off and never played again.
Jalal 2nd - effectively ruined any chance of promotion to the Championship with his 2 performances.
Janse 3rd - clearly off the pace, had no right to be starting that game and lasted 14 mins, but wasn't the worst player on the pitch that day

Re: Worst ever debut?
Just remembered it was season 04/05 because I’d been moved to the East Stand while the new West Stand was built. I also have a recollection the guy was sent on as a sub. Someone on this board will remember his name.

Is there footage anywhere of Dolan's bad game(s)? I was a ST holder that year but didn't seem to catch him. Was he a giant?

It was hard to watch, there was one particular forward who absolutely tormented him and poor Dolan was twisting this way and that trying to figure out where the ball was but to no availidontkn0 M wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 9:28 pm Is there footage anywhere of Dolan's bad game(s)? Clayton Fortune had a similar nightmare after being talked up as our new quality CB, possibly a replacement after Gabriel Zakuani was sold (?) but to say he wasn't a cultured centre back would be a bit of an understatement
Re: Worst ever debut?
I can remember Dolan when we played Bristol Rovers at home, first game of the season. Lost 4-1, don't think he featured again.
Did he get sent to Canvey Island ?

Re: Worst ever debut?
It was Rick Le Flem - got him from Middlesbrough I think. Don’t remember him being particularly bad but he was in a poor team overall.

Re: Worst ever debut?
Surprised no one has mentioned Steve Hodge. Subbed at half time on his debut by TT- walked out of the club and retired from football.

Re: Worst ever debut?
Just searched their squad, I think it was Junior Agogo that was chief tormentor
