Sky sports+
The late kickoff means I'll miss the match tomorrow, but I was thinking I could at least watch it on Sky.
However, it turns out that if you have an old-style Sky+ HD box like me and not a new fangled Sky Q one then you don't have access to the red button which the majority of games will be streamed on.
And of course the fact it's streamed means you have to sit through the ads as you can't record red-button stuff.
Looks like I'm going to be squinting at an ipad (not the first time, cough)

Re: Sky sports+
Considering I can’t get to many games now I am tempted but it’s sort of playing into the hands of the tv companies dominating football now. poo poo kick off times etc…binned off sky sports a year ago and didn’t really miss it.
Will get it through nowtv if I do. Apparently it’s all available on the now app

It’ll be interesting what the attendances are going to be this year now that a lot of games are going to be on sky, plus early/late kick offs, different game days, and increased ticket prices. However much the clubs got for it I wonder if it’s worth their while.

Re: Sky sports+
£300k is the figure been mentioned by Travis previously, not worth it for selling out the future to Sky imo. Also bearing in mind the comments that have been made about player wages this summer (e.g. the midfielder that Wycombe blew us out the water for on wages) it seems any increase in funding has been swallowed up in increased player wage demands already.J1MB0B wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:44 pm It’ll be interesting what the attendances are going to be this year now that a lot of games are going to be on sky, plus early/late kick offs, different game days, and increased ticket prices. Re: Sky sports+
I've just watched the Barnsley V Mansfield game on Sky plus and I have to say I feel a little bit more confident about Orient's chances now this season . I thought both teams looked poor . Mansfield scored a cracking opening goal but apart from that there wasn't much quality on show . Mansfield won 2-1 .

Any increase in revenue usually ends up on player contracts. Thats just the beast of football.gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:02 pm£300k is the figure been mentioned by Travis previously, not worth it for selling out the future to Sky imo. Re: Sky sports+
I don’t have Sky, and we used to rely on Now TV for the odd day pay for something particularly big like the US Masters Golf, streamed the available O’s games via our own club service, catch-up TV, YouTube, etc, seemed a good set up with wifi keyboard and mouse.
But there is no way I know that I can get the red button option on the internet, so that has stymied me from seeing O’s games via Now TV unless it’s shown on one of the main Sky channels, thanks Football League and Sky for that (not).

Re: Sky sports+
Well if today’s opener v Bolton is anything to go by then our attendances will be affected as there are loads of seats available for today’s game. I really would have thought that today’s game would have been close to a sell out.J1MB0B wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:44 pm It’ll be interesting what the attendances are going to be this year now that a lot of games are going to be on sky, plus early/late kick offs, different game days, and increased ticket prices. Even Richie was appealing to fans to come along and buy tickets yesterday in his match preview interview.
Maybe the club will allow bigger away allocations for clubs like Birmingham just to fill the stadium ??
And all this comes when people are saying we need a bigger stadium.

Ticket prices are probably the reason, instead of the club getting more investment into the club they are hitting the supporters too hard.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:50 amWell if today’s opener v Bolton is anything to go by then our attendances will be affected as there are loads of seats available for today’s game. Re: Sky sports+
I currently can't justify £32 a game, with £40 petrol costs from where I live on a salary of £0. Unfortunately streaming is the only logical option for me, but I'm not sure how many people are going to do it legally.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 8:44 amTicket prices are probably the reason, instead of the club getting more investment into the club they are hitting the supporters too hard.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:50 amWell if today’s opener v Bolton is anything to go by then our attendances will be affected as there are loads of seats available for today’s game. Re: Sky sports+
Pointless nostalgia, I know but in my distant memory Saturday afternoon footie was the metronome of a working man's life... Talk about it all week; finish work midday; meet your mates at the pub for a couple of pints then walk down the Os. 3s/6p - all standing, a lot of it on compacted earth banking, 30,000+ attendance for a special match; let the kids down to the front - no problem. Watch through a fug of Woodbine smoke. Creature comforts? Peanut 'Arry if you were peckish and a corrugated iron shed to pee in. Entertainment? The Leyton Silver Band, the odd celebrity in debt to Bernard Delfont or Lew Grade who'd be persuaded onto the pitch at half time... or that bloke who used to dress up as Montgomery and march round the touchline. If the club was short of money, they'd circuit the pitch with a stretched tarpaulin to collect loose change. Even then, we could afford to take on great players just past their best. Can't afford them now.
Much better today, isn't it? Thanks to Sky... I don't need to turn up at all. The only Orient fan you're likely to talk to is on here... God knows where he lives or what he looks like. It's all changed and so have we. But do you ever wonder who asked for this and whether what we've gained is better than what we've lost? I do.
Up the Os!

Sell your soul to the devil what do you expect??? All the money from sky, players sold,ST’s sold, streaming, etc. where’s all the money gone? It’s definitely not gone on players. No biggin up from the chairman or Ling they have gone suspiciously quiet? Something is not right and there’s something going on behind the scenes.

Re: Sky sports+
With Sky covering all these games simultaneously, I assume they will have limited cameras at each stadium. This does affect the quality of the viewing experience. One can never equal the actual match attendance, of course.

All the Sky money - likely to be paid in instalments so probably not seen much of it yet.
Money from players sold. Sanders fee probably £20/30k Ruel compensation probably £50k tops - not much really.
STs/streaming. Same as every year go towards players contracts and running costs
Positives
Wellens and Terry’s new contracts (you thought they would leave last season)
Brown new contract.
New contracts offered to Galbraith and Adjeyi.
Got rid of Piggot.
Ground Improvements
Pitch Improvements
Some decent signings with a couple more to come
We lose £millions every season, I know it’s in your nature to look on the dark side but the club know what they are doing, I for one trust Wellens, Ling, Travis to take us forward, but they can’t win with some people. Talks cheap but running a league one football club isn’t. We may have up to £million extra revenue this season but when you lost £2.5 million last season and made a lot of ground improvements it won’t go that far.

I suspect cold hard facts will fail to sway MB.
I worry about the accumulated losses with no prospect of break even in sight.

Its going to get worse. The new league rules that come into effect in 1 or 2 seasons time mean that league position will be determined much more by the size of your ground/crowd. Its why the board want a bigger ground as pat of the longer term vision. That is not verbatim, but its the gist of what came out of Kent's mouth at the Hearts game.
Re: Sky sports+
I currently only have the 2 Sky football channels and am getting an upgrade message when I try to watch another game. Can anyone confirm I have to have all sports channels to get access? I suspected Sky would do this.

Re: Sky sports+
SC News was put out by the SC, I agree with you what could happen but I’m sure lots of other could see that happening too we are yet to see what happens on that one.
Carsley taking temp charge of England was muted in the press two days after we lost the final. No idea what you said about Drinan. Jacket losing the dressing room rumours started fairly early on and Jordan Graham is far from finished.
Stop claiming you’re always right it makes you look really silly. Your latest what’s happened to all the money, somethings going on is a bit deperate.
You are making yourself into the message boards version of Davi Icke.

Each and every manager I put forward you will say that there unavailable so I’m in a no win situation with your views on the subject. Every manager is available at the right price and contract it’s weather they choose to accept or not. What I definitely do know is that we need a tactical manager perhaps a little like Venables or Hoddle who are obviously to old now. An international manager can’t buy players so have to make the best of what is available and for me Southgate is sadly lacking in the tactical department
Not Everything comes down to money though - anyone who would be wanted for the job, is likely a multi-millionaire anyway..
I agree that (despite his many qualities, which are evident by his record) he has stuff to learn in the tactical realm.
However, we've just beaten Italy home and away so maybe that area is improving too.
As an aside, I can actually see the FA promoting from within, and giving it to Lee Carsley due to his own record with the under 21s'.
