That’s absolutely the way to interpret this. Best ignore that an NHS already on its knees is best served by having key workers frightened for their safety.

I was up in Leeds for the last few days and although I saw no disturbances myself I did overhear several conversations from local Asian people. They were all extremely worried about how they kept themselves and their families safe. How bloody sad.

I was listening to Radio 4 this morning. They had a phone call to the hero guy who went in & confronted the autistic knife man & ended up with a severe stab wound in his leg. This guy was honest and brave & only later realised he had put his life on the line. He was also extremely annoyed by the mindless rioting in the wake of this attack. Which he said had used this attack as an excuse for their own Political ends. He then went on to criticise Sir Keir Starmer, saying " it is all very well going after the rioters with the full force of the law & giving out severe sentences "; but he said that the Govt was ignoring the principle causes of the unrest: ie, the illegal boat crossings, too many immigrants, poor integration, and differing cultural values. This is true up to a point, but Labour has only been in power a few weeks, so hardly giving them a chance. Fascists are opportunists and at this moment in time, it is a golden opportunity for them.
Hopefully all of this will die down soon, it usually does. But some of the issues that the Left have ignored, needs to be addressed. This problem goes back a long, long way: Between 1948 and 1970, nearly half a million people moved from the Caribbean to Britain, which in 1948 faced severe labour shortages in the wake of the Second World War. Harold Macmillan as PM accelerated this process. My late father-in -law wrote an official biography of " " SuperMac " and in it, he severely criticised him for this inflow as did Enoch Powell. The expulsion of Asians from East Africa at this time added to the problem, when all those with British Passports were allowed entry to the UK. The fact that many settled in to what were in fact enclaves in the Midlands, didn't help. Successive Governments have failed to address problems caused by past migrations and have kind of buried their head in the sands. Made worse by the fact that the communities are in largely working class areas. Labour has got to see that immigration can cause problems, and face up to it.

There are underlying issues, 100%. Our immigration policy and processing is a joke. The point the geezer missed, which is insane considering he almost died in the attack, is that the Southport killings and immigration literally have nothing to do with one another. The far right have seen a photo of a black kid and used it as an excuse to exercise their violence. Aside from all the crimes that are being committed by them, taking the killing of 3 innocent kids as an excuse to pedal unrelated hate is actually on par for me, or worse.
