Yes that was amusing. In the years used to calculate the covid money I had been putting in the hours to finance some Euro road trips so I was quids in when it came to getting the free money. Basically funded a deposit for daughters first house.

Seems to me that Reeves is into bluster big time, presenting as outraged about the Tory party destruction while in charge but then imposes measures to make the 'just about managing' pay more. Withdrawing the winter fuel allowance just because the rules said that the obscenely rich were also eligible, shows that she has very little awareness or care of the reality for millions of people who will now genuinely struggle with fuel bills.

Its not only the obscenely rich who didn't need it, totally wasted on so many retired people of pension age
in fact a lot of pensioners didn't need it either, an awful lot are doing rather nicely
Its generally known as "Christmas Money" by a large amount of older people and i've heard it described as that numerous times.
Millions will not struggle over the loss of 200 quid a year, inflation busting pension increase of 8.5% is nearly five times that amount.

The old of which I am one have done somewhat better than the current younger generation especially private pension wise.
Many will now have to work until they are nearly seventy and others have little or no chance of owning their own home.
My generation also had free university education available or decent apprenticeship schemes with proper work contracts.
Many youngsters gave up a lot to help the aged during Covid, doesn't hurt the old for once to give something back.

While in opposition Labour could talk the talk . Now they are in government they have to walk the walk . So far things don't look very promising .

It actually blows my mind that people will actually say out loud that they believe that far right rioting in August is the fault of the Labour Party who have been in power for a month.

Well the Tories were still blaming Labour for "there's no money left" and the state of the Economy up to last year at least, so shall we say 13 years ?
