Re: Crawley (h) Match / Exiles Thread
Thought Orient were really good for most of the game, should've took a few more of the chances and defended better, Palmer had the beating of the defence when he came on.
When JMD went off, I thought the logical subs were him off for Gorman/Marsh, then potentially Harrald for Wilkinson as he was getting kicked non-stop. As soon as Alabi came on it was like playing with 10 men and you lost the dribbling, movement, link up of JMD for pretty much a static body builder who offered nothing, it totally killed Angol and Dennis as they stopped getting the ball, it just made it a lot easier to defend against.
The ref must've passed the fitness test but he was definitely carrying some excess pounds

Re: Crawley (h) Match / Exiles Thread
Yep, especially as we were the better team. We should have been out of sight by halftime. That’s one game we definitely threw away.Defending let us down, big time today. Two of their goals came down our left hand side. We missed Widdowson because Brophy isn’t a left back. Crawley targeted him all game. That third goal was horrendous . School boy error not playing to the whistle. Standing around ball watching cost us at least a draw today . Definitely work to be done on the defence during the week. It’s so disappointing because we should never have lost that game today.

Re: Crawley (h) Match / Exiles Thread
Attendance for today’s match was over 1600 less than the opening home game where we won by the skin of our teeth.
Away support not much difference .
Dread to think how many will turn up for our next home game after the diabolical capitulation today, hardly going to attract any new supporters !

If we’re going with an inexperienced manager we’re going to have to accept he’ll make quite a few mistakes. That’s just the way it is. Ross has to learn fast and i’m sure he will. He’s still got plenty of time to sort this mess out but if he wants to win more games he’s got to be more savvy with our subs . FFS, forget Alabi and use Harrold more.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 5:58 pm Thought Orient were really good for most of the game, should've took a few more of the chances and defended better, Palmer had the beating of the defence when he came on.

Re: Crawley (h) Match / Exiles Thread
Hardly a mess is though, not as if we are stuck at the bottom of the table.
Still very much a work in progress and I feel there is still money in reserve should changes need to come.
Obviously today is very disappointing but I do think Ross hasn't done badly so far.
I can remember managers like Slade, Ling, Davis starting badly and being very stubborn and not changing things for many more games. Perhaps Ross needs to be quicker as he is 'interim' rather than a real manager.
I think the next run of fixtures will be crucial for him. We've had an easier start to the season, but the next four games look quite tough.

I’m fully behind him and what he’s trying to achieve after that entertaining performance today.eagwgw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:27 pm Hardly a mess is though, not as if we are stuck at the bottom of the table.

It was certainly entertaining to watch us repeatedly fail to clear our lines.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:54 pmI’m fully behind him and what he’s trying to achieve after that entertaining performance today.eagwgw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:27 pm Hardly a mess is though, not as if we are stuck at the bottom of the table.

Sorry but today our defence was a mess . That's what needs sorting out .eagwgw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:27 pm Hardly a mess is though, not as if we are stuck at the bottom of the table.

From where I was sitting it looked like our whole defence just stopped and let Palmer score . Schoolboy error not playing to the whistle. You can't just assume somebody is offside and stop.

Was not at the game (work committments) but during the week i suggested maybe Ogie could play at left back if Widdowson was unavailable. He is more than capable of facing Crawley and as he was given a contract the management should be a little braver in team selection. Playing Brophy out of position does not help the team or Brophy. Good win against Mansfield everyone feeling positive the perfect time for Ogie to play.

The goals are up on YouTube. Wright's one looks even better watched back but the goals conceded are even more awful second time around. So many chances to clear and Brill will be disappointed with the second one.

Re: Crawley (h) Match / Exiles Thread
First two goals were horrible. Had chances to clear, even their player totally mishit and still kept the ball for the first. The second bounced of Wright who should have done better. The third goal was far too easy. Brophy is not a natural defender, tap in back post, so don't know we're the marking was. Doesn't matter how you play if you give goals like that away.
Nice strike from Wright.
Really should have beaten Stevenage and Crawley. 5 extra points would have been some start to the season. Over the season the we will get points against run of play and drop points on other occasions, that's football.

They didn’t stop, they just didn’t pick him up. Minor point I know.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 9:11 pmFrom where I was sitting it looked like our whole defence just stopped and let Palmer score . I agree. I would be happy enough to see Ogie in the squad now that Widdowson is out. Young Sweeney too. Well, one of them will do.
Correction: I meant bench.
