Cole Palmer
I think he is out of the top drawer and should start the game tonight - I feel he knows his own worth and will not be intimidated by the occasion. Thoughts?

Re: Cole Palmer
He was the best player in the premier league last season and was playing for a mediocre side. Looks like he has the right amount of arrogance for international football. Should have started every game. Insane that he’s not even been on the pitch yet

Re: Cole Palmer
I've not seen enough of him for Chelsea to form an opinion. His stats obviously speak for themselves, but strange Pep let him go.

Re: Cole Palmer
Guy is competing with Saka - our most consistent attacker for years, Foden - epl player of the season, and Bellingham - la liga player of the season. I genuinely don't know where he'd come into that team unless Foden was dropped, Bellingham pushed back to deeper in midfield, and Palmer starts as a 10.
The problems we have aren't really personnel other than at left back and a partner for Rice. We haven't got a system that works and imagine Palmer would look just as lost as Foden has in the current set up.

Re: Cole Palmer
IMO Anthony Gordon should play on the left. Its pace we need there, then we can go forward on both wings

Anthony Gordon I have seen - love him for his workrate and energy, his stats must be insane. He makes things happen. No qualms if he starts.

Southgate should know all this: it will be interesting to see the starting X1 tonight.

Can’t give a firm reason for it but I’m not a member o the Anthony Gordon fan club. Might be his propensity for play acting and cheatingHoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 12:51 pmAnthony Gordon I have seen - love him for his workrate and energy, his stats must be insane. I find his haircut bothers me a bit. Probably a good job I'm not picking the playersContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 4:45 pmCan’t give a firm reason for it but I’m not a member o the Anthony Gordon fan club. Re: Cole Palmer
Sounds like Gallagher will come in. We looked pretty good at the world cup with Rice as the DM and Henderson and Bellingham playing as 8s, and Gallagher is a reasonable Henderson replacement, so that line up might work. Would give Foden more room to drift into the no.10 slot as well.

Re: Cole Palmer
sounds the way he will play it. Hope he rolls the dice at some point and introduces some more young blood..Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 4:52 pm Sounds like Gallagher will come in. Re: Cole Palmer
Have been very impressed whenever I've seen Palmer. Not seen Gordon quite as much but what I recall they are both very similar in style, skill and even stature.

Re: Cole Palmer
Pigott would've been 5 yards behind the play and watched the pass roll out for a goal kickContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:41 pm Well he certainly reminded me of Pigot with that last minute feeble effort on goal

A real shame as he’d looked good up until then.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:41 pm Well he certainly reminded me of Pigot with that last minute feeble effort on goal
Difficult to justify inclusion after fluffing our one big chance.

Re: Cole Palmer
Was it that easy a chance? I've only seen it once and I don't seem to remember holding my head in my hands. It was a chance, yes, but it didn't look easy... I may be wrong, must see it again.

Re: Cole Palmer
Is anyone saying it was an easy chance? But he totally fluffed it, that’s clear.
It was very similar to the last minute opportunity the Italian bloke curled into the far corner of the Croats net the night before.
