The guy got an unbelievable opportunity to go to a championship club and he took it because it is obviously the best decision. He could have stayed here and broke his leg, or score less than 10 goals and then he'd be playing league two for the foreseeable. Now he might not make it in the Championship, but the bar is set higher for him and his next club will likely be above league two level, and he will have made a good amount of money in the process- and that is worst case.

It is so arrogant to think that Orient have a divine right to keep any of these players.
In your eagerness to disagree with me, you’ve misunderstood.

My point was that Charlton could have signed him but left him here for 6 months to see how he goes at L2 level first.
Fair enough. They could have but they might not have got him, and I'm sure they'd rather have him with their coaches.
Will he be with their coaches when they loan him out to L1?

He has been up to now, and he certainly wouldn't have if he had not been signed until January.

Even if he is 4th choice a couple of injuries to the other strikers and he's on the bench and getting appearances as a sub. It's a waiting game for him right now.

He will also be making the adjustment to a higher standard of soccer in training. It takes time to adjust and fit in.

I see no reason for the lad to panic.

Question for those that think he has made the wrong move. Do you think Marvin Ekpiteta made the wrong move when he became 4th choice at Orient, and didn't get in the team straight away?

Marvin was clearly able to play at the level of the club he had joined. Immediately.

I keep having to check back to which one of our dearly departed strikers we're discussing. Also, when saying it was a 'wrong decision' which I'm not, you have to remember it wasn't binary - either go to the club they ended up at or stay at Orient. I'm sure both had multiple offers.

For Josh, yeah it's probably right. He's still only 20 (just about) and has been relatively spoilt by playing first team football at a young age. There won't be many other Championship U23s who have the experience he has. Six months or a year away from regular first team football won't be a problem, although of course he'll be missing the buzz of 5,000 or so fans singing his name. And he's the sort of player who you can imagine sitting on the bench and coming on as a sub on a frequent basis in the not too distant future.

With Macca, I'm not so sure. He's that bit older and needs to be playing football. Championship is a step too far now, possibly ever, so really needed a big club in L1 or L2 to come in for him. If he gets loaned out now or in the new year, then fair enough.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Bonne- of course it was the right move. Even if it doesn't work out, his bar has been raised so that he will probably land at League 1 or 2 level.

TBH, from what I've seen so far, I think Angol is a better player than Bonne. On the other hand , I wish we still had Koroma . He's an exciting player who can make something out of nothing.
Agree. And by what little, I too, have seen of Angol, I'll go as far as to say I think he'll be a much better player than Bonne.
Awkward.
