VAR likely to stay

But it's OK the Refs are going to announce the wrong decision now.
Should be scrapped and then reintroduced once they've come up with a better version, then just stumbling through each year.

Responsible for more correct decisions more often than not. Must ensure fans in the stadium have access to replays however. Not to say that the folks at Stockley Park do not need to raise their game.

Absolutely killing the game along with the financial abuse at the top end of the Premier League. PGMOL also needs scrapping, absolutely not fit for purpose

We should be proud of VAR - being adopted by football associations across the globe.

Proud of what? It was used by other leagues and fas before our own.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 11:10 am We should be proud of VAR - being adopted by football associations across the globe.
My main problem with it is that it seems to have made people even more obsessed with officials and poor decision making. You would think pgmol were some kind of cult of satanic child murderers the way they are talked about. The cats out the bag, var has to stay as it's generally made decision making better, but better will never be enough for the people who think it's possible to be fully 'consistent'.

Probably getting more right decisions than wrong ones.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 3:15 pm PL teams all bottling it. Wonder what the motivation/sweetener was?

Re: VAR likely to stay
Most people recognise that refereeing is a tough job. Especially, those that have tried it. The majority of refs welcome VAR as they want the correct decision to emerge and they realise they themselves are not “infallible”

Why does something like TMR work so well in Rugby, yet VAR attract so much controversy in football?

Re: VAR likely to stay
Unlike football for VAR, not sure that rugby tweaked it's rules in a similar manner. It's often the rules changes that have generated controversy. Also not sure rugby players simulate/cheat to the same degree.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:14 am Why does something like TMR work so well in Rugby, yet VAR attract so much controversy in football?
