Scott Canham
Reminded of him by the Players You Wanted to Do Well thread and honestly can't think of a player whose talent we wasted more than his. Probably ahead of his time in the way he linked defence and attack, Taylor's tactics were never going to be the right fit even though he clearly saw his ability since he brought him in twice.
Obviously lots of chat about El Mix lately but he had his limits whereas as for Canham, pound for pound and on talent alone, I can't think of a better midfielder we've had in the past 30 years.

There is a video of some twaghead ripping into Harry Redknapp for letting Canham go but keeping Fat Frank on. This post reminded me of that.

Re: Scott Canham
He was very average. I can prove this by citing his time with Chesham Utd of the Home Counties Pub Leagues.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 11:42 am In the way of someone vastly overrating Scott Canhams footballing ability.

Scott Canham used to play with David Beckham and a fan famously protested on camera when Harry Redknapp let him leave West Ham: 'I wish I got the royalties from that video... then I could get my loft done!'Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:02 am Reminded of him by the Players You Wanted to Do Well thread and honestly can't think of a player whose talent we wasted more than his. Don't think I'd seen the end of it before when Frank Jnr tips League Cup hero Manny Omoyimni to make it to the top.

You weren't the target audience but this was fun, can see why JES and the others do it.

Re: Scott Canham
I remember Canham scoring a lovely strike for us from outside the box and the announcer called it "a Christmas cracker from Scott Canham" that memory still feels fresh despite being what 25 years ago
