You and quite a few others, lots of Ipswich supporters where I live thought he was gone and probably would have been If McKenna had left. Not to say he would have come to us, Ipswich turned down a six figure bid for him last season so whatever they turned down has probably gone up now they are prem. let’s hope we can get a decent replacement.

Quite a few ITFC fans I know think he’s been messed about by the club as he’s not going to play-for the first team.

No, I mean you literally posted on this thread saying they hadn't taken up the extension as if it was gospel.

Er no I didn’t best re read it, based only on what I was hearing from Ipswich supporting mates, I wrote that it looks like they haven’t taken up his option. Hardly gospel.

OK JES, here’s where the problem arose.

You initially said “looks like the option wasn’t taken up”, framing it as if you are in the know. You didn’t qualify it.

When PJ said “I thought he was being released”, instead of saying “oops, yeah I was misinformed”, and recognising that he was referring to the impression you’d given, your reply suggested that those on here who took you at your word were just some of the people that for some reason believed he’d been released; you didn’t acknowledge that on this board, it’s you who actively created that impression.


In the scheme of things, this doesn’t matter, but I’m interested in whether
A: you can point out anything I’ve got wrong or misrepresented in this post

B: you’re able to say “ah yeah, I was a bit eager to flaunt insider knowledge that turned out to be nonsense”

No Insider knowledge, read the thread and you will see my Ipswich supporting mates were all of the of the opinion he wasn't being retained.

If you were to say to someone "It looks like it might rain tomorrow" that's not a weather forecast it's an opinion. In the same way I said "it looks like they are not taking up the option" I never said he's definitely being released at any stage. If people interpret it as that it's up to them.

I qualified where this came from about three posts down on Page two - did you miss that?

Anyway I have far better things to do than argue with point scoring egoists and keyboard Warriors so that's it from me over and out.
